Burqa 'confronting', says Tony Abbott.

OMG!

And most of the country thinks this numbskull is suitable PM material??

And if that isn't bad enough when asked about Mr Kings proposed radical new policing system in which criminal suspects (only suspects mibnd you. Which i think means all Muslims in Mr Kings world)  would be injected with satellite trackable micro chips shot from a "high powered sniper rifle" his response was:

"I'm just not going to get into the micro-detail of policing," Mr Abbott said.

Micro detail? That is policing? How about "I'm not going to comment on what is obviously a ridiculous statement by King"? That would have been a more appropriate response Mr Abbott.

If someone did not know the difference and looked at the pretty picture you posted, he/she would probably be thinking, how can Mr Abbott, how can anyone say they  find it confronting?

Most people are brighter than you obviously think they are.

Even confusing the hijab with burka is more common than you realise.

I guess if you don't have any Muslims in your immediate neighbourhood/workplace/transport etc, most people would only know about them via media?

I agree.  Because the word 'burqa' has been thrown around politically by shock jocks etc over the last few years, all the different modes of Islamic dress are lumped together as "burqas" for effect, and repeated by those who don't care.
