Warnings have been issued to the eBay seller trying to flog their say in the same-sex marriage postal survey for $1500.

A Sydneysider who is selling their ballot paper on the same-sex marriage postal survey has been warned they face possible jail time or a $2000 fine, with an independent senator saying it's making a mockery of the exercise.

The eBay listing, which has been taken down, was published on September 18 and titled, Buy My Vote.

The bid started at $1500.

"What is this plebiscite worth to you", the seller writes in the ad description.

"The reason I'm selling my vote is because either way I don't care, but thought there are people who do."

The seller promises part of the proceeds of the auction will go to help kids battling cancer.

The Australian Bueau Of Statistics, which is conducting the survey, told SBS World News it considers any submission of a survey response that's been bought or sold a criminal offence.

The offence against the Census and Statistics Act 1905 carries a maximum penalty of $2,100. The Criminal Code offence carries a maximum penalty of 12 months imprisonment,” a spokesman said.

Woman LOL

No way this plebiscite is going to truly reflect the opinion of the general public. It's going to be so skewed.

". . . so i'm just wondering if i vote NO will drug dealers stop selling drugs?"

Oh come on, you don't want to be seen as being a Nancy boy, do you? 😉

(the best and only way to stop drug dealers selling drugs is to make it un-profitable for them, and that's best done by the govt legalising, regulating, taxing those drugs and using the money saved by abolishing the policing to fund rehab and other related medical services.) Let's Just say No to our drug-dealer incentivisation laws as they stand.

The No voters on this SSM issue are either mis-informed or intentionally evil in my opinion, as out of either ignorance or malice they are denying the right to the pursuit of freedoms and happiness to members of a certain section of our society on an issue which does not personally affect them, whatever the outcome.

Just say Yes? How much is a clear conscience worth?

i rekon if you read my posts in this thread you will be able to guess which way i voted.

the point of my lat post was that the NO vote tv advert is trying to say by giving gays the right to vote we will be causing all kinds of side effects.

i say these side effects are allready here, gays getting married makes no difference, just like voting NO wont stop drug dealers even if someone said it would.

The latest advert from the NO's mentions the fact that kids are being bomberded with sexualised teachings in schools and in other countries where the Gay lobby have a stong political presence, they are contributing to this. I think wether you like it or not, this is a valid point. The gay lobby in Australia has been succesful in having more sexualised teachings introduced into Australias schools, even with quite young students.

The world has become a place of hyper sexualisation of children. This is not just caused by the gay lobby. The internet, childrens fashion and those horrible little princess pageants in America all play their part, but the Gay lobby and its sexualised teachings in schools are certianly part of the problem, rather than part of the solution.

JUST LET LITTLE KIDS BE LITTLE KIDS FOR AWHILE. Theres plenty of time for sex education and equel opportunities teachings in more senior years.

i'n my view, no its not a valad point to point at things allready happening as a reason to stop something else happening.

the only reason i can see for someone to be mixing the arguments is to try to confuse the 'voter' not that this is a vote but just a waste of money.

IF the no vote gets up whats won? ok, the no voters can have bragging rights to say "we won we stopped those awful people from marrying"

its just back to how it is now, all the terrible things they say will happen if the YES vote gets up will still happen because they are allready happening. gays getting married or not will make no difference.

i have no problem with anyone voting NO, but do it because you believe marriage can only be beteween a man and a woman, end of story. if thats your belief stick to it.

its becoming more like a federal or state election with so much carp being put out as truth.

its really a very simple question, it should allways have been handled in parlement by our elected representatives. not turned into a popularity survey.

This is really a storm in a teacup.

The form is folded in 3....when you refold it to put it in the envelope just fold one part of the paper forward and the other to the back.

That way there are 2 thicknesses of paper (including the envelope) on either side of the actual voting box and nothing is visible.

Not sure why you aimed your remark at me....I have no problem with my gay friends getting married.   They throw fantastic parties at the best of times...a wedding reception would be out of this world.

And my post above was just pointing out that there was really nothing to panic about with the envelopes supposedly being see through.
