C'Mon The Blues

The tension is mounting.

The blue iced cakes are made.  The copious blue sausages are spewing from makers.  The reporters are interviewing.  The build-up is spine tingling.

The physios have done their job.  The coach has done his.  The legs will pump.  The chests will thump.  The second clash is about to begin.

Re: C'Mon The Blues

I liked the final score.  However,  what a terrible game.  The sort of play for wet weather football.

Queensland defended well with the usual "in your face" play.  After breaking the record of scoring the most points as a Queenslander State of Origin player, I was disappointed to see Thurston use his forearm across the throat in a tackle.  Even worse though was his unidentified teammate push that arm harder.

Game 3 should be a better spectator event, I hope.

Re: C'Mon The Blues

I bet the qld dude who got the no try is feeling really bad today..

so close - but no cigar

and nope, not making an excuse - near enough isn't good enough to be counted, so not saying unfair etc

The blues won

but I bet the Qld dude is playing that play over and over in his mind today

Re: C'Mon The Blues

Poor grammar from meSmiley Embarassed........I wasn't the one to score the most points.  Thurston was.

Yes, Crikey, "poor decisions" and "almosts" and "if only" are often contemplated.  Hopefully, positives come from the revision.

Re: C'Mon The Blues

It's ok, I got what you meant LOL

and as far as I am concerned when there is a "poor decision" made - I figure no doubt it happens to both teams at one time or another, so no big deal, even if it is true.

As for the no try in question, whilst the males in this household are positive it was a wrong call, I watched the replays, and to me it looked like he lifted his arm, the ball fell out and the NSW guy caught it, (I don't know much about football) so to me - it seemed legit and it was a no try

plus it was right on the line, only the guys face was over the line...

OMG - I winced when I saw that face plant - I was sure he was going to have a broken nose or at least a blood nose when he got up!

but if it had have been a NSW guy who giot the no try, I would have gladly accepted that decision (as would every qld team member and supporter, i would say, so i reckon it only fair that the same goes when it isn't in qlds favour too iykwim

So whilst disappointed that qld didn't win, I am sincere when I do say congrats to the blues.

Spoiler
but gosh I hope we win it back next year LOLOLOL

Re: C'Mon The Blues

I think the referee's worst blunder, and one which probably cost Qld the series, was about 15 minutes from full-time when Qld kicked-off and the NSW player who was about to catch the ball in the in-goal area stepped back to let it cross the dead-ball line on the full, causing a NSW restart from half way, except that as the NSW player moved quickly out of the way, the ball actually grazed his jersey as it went past.

However, the ref was 55m away and obviously didn't see the ball hit the player on the way past so it's just one of those things that happen occasionally, but it was a crucial error at the time and cost Qld, who IMO were the better side for most of the game, very dearly indeed.

I don't begrudge NSW their win though, even if it's a shame that it won't be a third-game decider in Brisbane this year, as they have been on the losing side for so long that their morale must have been at an all time low. Still, you don't get much closer than 6 to 4 after 80 minutes of gruelling football and I'm sure that most of the 84,000 fans at the game went home very happy and content. 🙂
