Good morning to the thread from the miserably wet Fraser Coast:(
I am a tad shell shocked as it has been comfirmed that my daughters MIL has a fatal disease affecting the brain and she has 3-6 months to live so very very sad as 3 months ago she was fine.
The Mater hospital wanted to send her to Mt Olivett hospital in Brissie(Jen will know about that one) but atm my daughter and son in law have her at a nice home near them, and they see her each day and will try to keep her there as long as they can.
A specialist from Melbourne rang on Thursday and said they cannot fully diagnose what it is as they need to wait for her to pass to do an autopsy on the brain, but it is similar to Mad cow disease and her name had to go on a register and relevant authorities notified.
I was quite surprised at that as she has not been out of the country, but how they explained it to my daughter is that a proton is eating protein to the brain.
She has virtually lost all sight just a tiny bit in one eye left and she cannot talk properly so it is a nightmare for them and her grandies, she does not have a husband and my son in law is her only child as his brother died about 12 years ago.
I have to try to split my time up a bit atm as I feel I have to be in Brisbane as much as I can and I have put out calls to my other siblings to see if they can rally to help me with my stuff here.
One sister and her son are coming up Monday for a week so I will go back to Brissie sometime this week.
Sorry for the scroller but wanted to let you all know if I am not about this is why.
Take care everyone, god blessโฅ
