CS political commentary 101

I have a suggestion that might just help us all get on a bit better, while at the same time protect the more moderate of us on these boards from some of the silly shrillness going on at the moment.

How about, when you feel the compunction to post a "news" item, together with your scathing condemnation, about something a politician has said or done, you just stop for a moment and genuinely consider what you would do if your preferred politician had said or done the exact same thing. You don't need to believe they necessarily would, just use your imagination.
If after applying this test, you find that you still think your indignation would be warranted, go ahead and post.

If, on the other hand, you realise you would immediately jump to the defence of your guy and seek out as many articles, insults and cartoons as you can in support, maybe you should reconsider your motives in posting and just let it slide into the oblivion it deserves.

Now, here's the tricky part so I'll type slowly so you can understand.  In doing this you need to be mature, rational, logical and, most importantly, HONEST with yourself.

Go ahead, give it a try.  You never know, you might just discover that not everyone on the other side is as demonic as you think and that your people are human and sometimes make mistakes as well.

And you'll be helping to preserve the cyber hearing of us all. Smiley Happy
