What are your thoughts on Cadbury, their sales have fallen into a huge heap in the second half of the year.
Is it a result of Cadbury changing the formula to remove pig fats to gain Halal certification that has affected the texture and flavor of their product,
or is it a back lash from people boycotting Cadbury due to the Halal certification and sending a message to them
The Hobart Cadbury factory will close its doors for five weeks at the end of this year.

what ever the reason it would seem they have made some huge mistakes that have effected sales

Looking at it reseanobly from a production point of view it would be rather expensive to run seperate production runs for Halal products for that market and another run for ours, the costs involved would be detrimental to the company and obviously they need the certification to trade in some overseas markets.
Again the certication has nothing to do with local markets or minority supposed demands, that's an assumption and not a fact in this country and no company with any nous is going to for a minority they do it for financial reasons to trade in a market which btw has a far larger a consumer base than our own country.
If its too hard to have a seperate label for the export market then they have to prepared for a back lash from the local market.
If you dont give the customers what they want they will stop buying

TBH I think it's only a small vocal minority actually arking up about it and the vast majority couldn't give a you know whats rats clacker they just buy without carring.
It's not the fact it's to hard Hawk, the costs involved in running seperate production runs is enormous so it's simpler and more cost effective to make it all the same for both markets, that's business.

It only requires changing the label its no big deal to do that. chances are they use different ones and boxes anyway to suit the intended country.
as you say many dont care but a rapidly growing number do care and will chose to buy a non Halal product because they do care.
