Cadbury

What are your thoughts on Cadbury, their sales have fallen into a huge heap in the second half of the year.

Is it a result of Cadbury changing the formula to remove pig fats to gain Halal certification that has affected the texture and flavor of their product,

or is it a back lash from people boycotting Cadbury due to the Halal certification and sending a message to them

The Hobart Cadbury factory will close its doors for five weeks at the end of this year.

If the labelling is the issue I guess they could hoodwink us and give us labels that don't specify they are halal certified in this country which either way won't change the fact that they are.

You'd be surprised actually the labels can be generic across all regions, even those are expensive to have done for different countries so sometimes and again for financial reasons it's simpler to have just the one label.  The vast majority of labeling differences comes down to some products they may make for one market they don't sell here, somewhat similar to the biccie manufacturers back in the day when you could get some types in one state and not another eg: Arnotts Chocolate Ripple you couldn't get in Qld for a long time and have no idea if you can now or not.

Funny enough hawk I dont care if any thing is marked Halal or what people wear.

I just get on with life and treat people how they treat me.

Life is to short and most of the time it is bloody hard, why would I make it harder for my self, running around looking at labels for more then their fat content in tiny writing ๐Ÿ™‚

"I am sure you are capable of looking for yourself, it may provide a wake up call"

Dead right with that one.

If people actually knew what went in, they wouldn't eat a lot of things.

I see suet is on that list, the fat around kidneys and liver is really tasty when fresh.

The only reason I know that is I had some fresh kidneys and liver I cut out of a Cow and within a couple of hours they were in the pan and oh so sweet they were.

Pig fat wouldn't come under vegetable fat?

Sounds like the Macca's rumours (false) of the 90's... their soft serve icecream was made out of whipped pig fat.

What info do you have that any Cadbury brand chocolate sold in Australia had pig fat/pig DNA in it? Which is what you claim in the opening post.

Did vegetarians know not to eat Cadbury chocolate IF that was true?

I saw the Malaysian story (from this year) where Cadbury chocolate there had traces of pig DNA in it. That isn't Australian made chocolate though.

Whittakers (N.Z.) is THE BEST supermarket brand chocolate (IMO) but I can't find 'ginger' in S.A......is it available in other states?

I don't think they sell all their 'flavours' in Australia. I can't remember seeing the  Ginger one here in NSW.
