Re: Cameras

No, it just keeps going and going, and we can't see how to turn them off, it's a though something is 'stuck'.

We thought those squares (according to what we've read about it from the manual and online) were determining the light sources and then should settle down when ready to go, but they are still there as soon as we turn the camera on even when not focussing on the subject.

It's possible we're doing something wrong, but can't figure out what.

Re: Cameras

do you think they might be the group area focus points?

Re: Cameras

I don't know, and us not knowing much about photography doesn't help ...  Smiley Sad

We purchased this particular camera as it is supposed to be a simple kind of 'point and shoot',  but perhaps it's in the first setting up?    We followed the instructions meticulously, but even the camera shop folks (where we purchased it) don't seem to know why it's doing that.

Re: Cameras

Okay, found the A but not an A9, the A is on the dial that has on it P  S  A  M  U plus a little icon of a tiny green camera and 'scene'.

It's a Coolpix P600.

Re: Cameras

You might try turning the LCD screen toward the camera body, which activates the viewfinder........and use that.

Re: Cameras

Been reading round, it might be best to reset and start again in the setup menu- it probably cant hurt, right?

Heres a link to a forum of users Qs and As..

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but after reading online forums,I would try the reset, and then if that doesnt work Id be returning it to the store for a full refund..Woman Sad

Re: Cameras

Just sneaking back in for a minute as I have to finish an assignment this morning.

Yes, I think you are absolutely right YCDI.   I'm going to shut the whole thing down, even pull the battery out, recharge it (although it's still half charged) and start the whole setup again.

Thank you so much for the link and thank you for the excellent advice, I'll read right through it.

Will get back to you this afternoon after the restart etc and let you know what has happened  xxx
