Can someone explain to me why it is a good thing

For the LNP to continue with such an UNPOPULAR leader?

I don't get it at all, they are not really showing support and unity as a party so that cannot be a reason.

Doesn't having an unpopular matter to them?

Is it simply because some of them want to keep their jobs?

Is there an explanation out there that makes sense?

Do they want to lose the next election?

Any predictions as to the time frame am3?

I'm thinking that the budget to be delivered mid-year will be a sugar and honey affair. It will stop short of guaranteeing a BMW in everyone's driveway but it will be a softer budget.

I hope we don't change prime ministers. If we do it's just another person who the tax payers have to support until they kark it. They cost a fair bit to maintain, ex prime ministers, so I believe.

Donna, can you explain to me why you think that a person doing a good job has to have personal popularity?

Take me for instance, I would not say that I am very popular on this board, but I do believe that iI put my point on any issue over pretty well.

So, you, being a 'popular' poster, how would you respond to that statement ? 🙂

Liberal and National Party people will never vote Labor.

That might be so, but you forget that the elections are not won/lost on votes of the permanent party base.  There is a large swinging voters group and they are those who decide who governs.  TA won because his simplistic 3 word slogans appealed to these people, but they are also the people who are getting badly hit by all the cuts.  The LNP might think that if just before the next election they will offer little bandaid they will get the swingers to back them.  But will they believe anything TA says?

I would not agree with that statement.

The PM does not have the respect of the public (voters). Popularity or not, that is the main issue. Can't be repaired, he has to go.

As predicted Donna, you have just confirmed the ethos of the Lefties. By so doing you have confirmed that you Lefties put more value on popularity than performance. Krudd springs readily to mind. 🙂

Yep be popular, spend like a drunken sailor, put it all on the tab and then scarper. Let someone else pay off the debt.

The unfortunate fact is that all Australian taxpayers are the ones paying off the debt
