Re: Can you live without......?

I could survive without coffee.

But I could not live without it.

I'm still playing with the settings of my Dual Boiler and the burr grinder, to get exactly and precisely the coffee of heaven.

By the day, davewil, I prefer unpooped coffee. I also like my coffee to have a rounded rich robust taste that balances bitter notes with sweet notes (by which I do not mean sugar!).

Coffee?

I can now as I have learnt to enjoy a nice cup of tea. Occasionally I'll go to a cafe with a friend for a coffee but because of the water having chemicals, the visits are fewer these days. There's  a couple of coffee jars at home and they get used but for me, these days, tea is the morning kick start.

I know of many people who need their coffee and some wouldn't be functional without it.

There is just as much water in a cup of tea as in a cup of coffee.

Re: Can you live without......?

I'm not keen on hot drinks.

Before I retired I used to make myself an iced coffee at work - Ordinarly instant coffee mixed with Jarrah Brazil, sugar, a bit of hot water to dissolve it, skim milk powder, cold water and ice cubes.  I used to use cold milk but co-workers would help themselves to it without asking.  So I switched to skim milk powder.....which I was pleased to find no one would touch with a 10ft bargepole. LOL

At home I would occasionally make a calorie laden version - Instant coffee, whole milk, sugar, cream (if I had any), ice cream scoop and ice cubes.

It's funny.  I think my taste for iced coffee simply ended when I retired.  I haven't had coffee in any form since my last day at work around two years ago.

Maybe one day I might again, but who knows?

Clearly I can live without it.

Re: Can you live without......?

If you're going to drink instant, Moccona is the bare minimum.

You do know that Nescafe's Blend 43 refers to the 43 areas of the factory floor they sweep it up from?

Smiley LOL

You don't waste good (even instant) coffee on an iced coffee - especially if you are mixing it with a blended product like one (or two) of the Jarrah range.

I went even cheaper than Blend 43 (though I drew the line at Pablo etc).  I used to buy.......Coles Instant Coffee (though as it looked and tasted remarkably like Nescafe....that's probably what it was.)  LOL

If I gave you $10,000 for you not drinking coffee ever again, could you do it?
