Watch these kids try and figure out what they are and how they're used.

Now tell me how old you feel

At the time I was very proud to have been one of the first people in my neck of the woods to buy a Beta VCR. It wasn't long before it was near useless because VHS won the format war and Beta became obsolete. That seems so long and so many technologies ago that I do feel real old. And I bet most young people wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about, yet it was the revolutionary state of the art technology at the time. Sigh.

I don't understand how the Betamax format lost the race.

It was a smaller and more compact cassette and loaded immediately

VHS was huge and ugly and you had to wait for it to load before watching it.

Never had that prob with our VHS,  put in the tape, hit the play button 'n off it went, no waiting for it to "load"

You'd notice the difference if you had a Betamax, Bushie.

I had Beta - it was a superior platform.

Think VHS - in the end gave more choices.

So..............VHS won out.

It was quality in its day.
