As you may have read earlier, I was having a crises in faith. My teacher came to see me last weekend and last night I found something that echoes what she said. I thought I'd share it with you, it might be inspiring to someone.
Transforming the Self, Living the Teachings
When we commit our lives to chanting we embark on a journey of self-discovery and challenge. By taking responsibility for our feelings and emotions, especially those we most dislike, we come to realise we have the ability to transform our lives from within. As we broaden our experiences of chanting daimoku we get experiences of our environment reflecting the transformation of our inner lives. This could be in our family relationships, at work or in other aspects of life.
It is usually within one of these arenas that we find life can be difficult or cause us to suffer. As we continue chanting, the more we start to see our lives very differently. At first this process may seem a little uncomfortable because it is quite unique and new to us. We may or may not like what we see. Perhaps we realise we have set attitudes or opinions about others or various issues that make us suffer. It may seem that others have a problem with us. This can draw out all sorts of feelings and emotions that can make us uneasy, or uncomfortable.
Getting this kind of reaction does not mean that chanting is not working or that it is working in a negative way. On the contrary you are actually in the process of transforming exactly that which has always led you to suffer in that particular area of your life. Your chanting is illuminating an area of your life that needs to change for your own happiness. The realisation that this opinion or attitude stems from our own lives and not from others opinions of us, leads us to uncover the Buddha nature inherent in our lives. The quickest way to transform these feelings or attitude is to keep chanting until you realise the cause of these uncomfortable feelings.
However, it may be that is exactly when you find it the most difficult time to chant. You are on the brink of changing a part of your life that always stops you from progressing or being happy. It will probably feel like walking up a hill backwards. At such times obstacles and "devils" arise. You will probably be able to justify why it is more beneficial to watch TV than do gongyo or chant . But this is exactly the time to chant in order to break through and win over something that has always held you back.
Yes, Buddhism is not for the faint hearted. :^O

Braff hope you have a great trip! ๐
Mioux wonderful to hear about Sally & Ava's progress.โฅ
Waves, hugs n smooches to the okers (both public & lurking).
I believe I had an angel sent to guide me over these past days...
When discharged from hosp Wed arvo after giving birth Mon night I was put on the "Midwifes at home" program, wherea nurse comes to your house each day to check on you & the baby.
Officially i was getting 1 visit with a possible 2nd 'if necessary'
My midwife was an unusually loud little lady who came and tutored hubs & myself on so many important things, she was so amazing in the way she taught us without lecture, and guided/advised exactly the right thing at the right time.
She came back a 2nd day for her own piece of mind that we were coping and during conversation (initially about he baby blues/depression), it came out that Id lost my 1st husb to Melanoma- which her young adult daughter is also battling.
And today- not on her work roster- she popped in for 10 mins to find hubs & i frazzled n tired and bubs miserable and agitated! She showed us the cries of the baby and what they tell about her needs and by the time she left bubs was settled n happy and we were now confident to 'go it alone'......
It was a great day and we are so grateful to her.
I realised that I dont even know her name! Cos the 1st morn she came when she introduced herself I was that sleep deprived, it didnt stay in my head, an amazing woman, who'd been a midwife since 1972!! I will be forever grateful to her. โฅ
Dont mind me..... I just needed to get that out.....

Morning all (or afternoon for most of you) (((hugs))) all round. Just realised I haven't popped in here for ages.
Kylie, rule number one for tired mums. When baby sleeps - you sleep. No excuses. Beds don't need to be made, floors don't need to be swept, washing doesn't need to be done (if you have disposable nappies) and family are quite capable of making their own meals (and yours) and washing up afterwards. In my day you would have spent at least a week in hospital gathering your strength after the birth, so don't pretend you don't need that same amount of rest just because you are at home.:-x

Hello all ~~~~~
Higs and hugs to everyone. :-x
Lovely news that Sally and Ava are making progress:-x and what a wonderful story for you Kylie and your emotional connectin with your home midwife nurse. I hope her daughter will be OK and that you and MrKylie will prosper with young Samantha. They are gorgeous photos that you have just posted.
Hi there MIA xxx
Jacks, are you going OK? Dtrh, I hope today wasn't too bad for you. It must be horrible for your clients having try on the specialised clothes. ๐
Hi Flannie, She Ele, Cuddly (:-x:-x:-x:-x)
Of course a big squishy hug to MsCat. :8}
Hello to all that I have not named. I am feeling a bit lot ๐
I got off the train all ๐ :-x but within 10 minutes I was :_|
My lovely niece is in a critical condition in ICU and the next 24 hours are so important. From what we believe, people that have had this happen 25% don't make it past 24 hours, 25% don't make it past 3 months and 25% have something wong with them. We need all your OK thoughts that she gets into the other 25%. She has been through so much in the past 2 years. It is her turn to be on the winning end.
My sister met me at the train station to break the news to me. She didn't want to ring me while I was on the train because of the news that it was.
I would love to tell you about the fabulus kiss I had from Damien time I had at the Festival but I will wait for a couple of days. My niece is taking priority with my thoughts at the moment.
Sorry to be on such a downer. In fact, to lighten it up a bit...Yes, I did get that kiss from Damien ๐ (on the cheek of course)
