He's more than old enough to know the difference between infatuation and reality. His online fantasy girl, in reality, is a married woman with baggage. Good luck to him.
As an aside, it's very unlikely that he'll get emergency accommodation, no matter who he has on the inside. He'll need a social worker and he/she is going to have to prove why someone who can stay with family, who is capable of earning a full time wage (and has thus far), who has no dependents, isn't disabled and isn't elderly...is more worthy that those who fit the above criteria and then some (and even they struggle). I doubt it.
He'll have to be a big boy and pave his own way...since he loves FB so much, maybe he can post on Mark Zuckerberg's wall and ask for a loan.
