I've been thinking lately about our attitude to death and grieving.

My friend's brother died a few years ago through cancer. The church was packed. At the end of the service everyone lined up in an orderly manner to console the bereaved family before leaving the church.

At the 'wake' my friend went straight to bed and the women in her extended family came into her bedroom bringing food, drinks, flowers, some hopped in to the bed with her to cuddle. They allowed her to wail. They allowed her to be crazy with grief.

She insisted on taking a month off work. Her community dropped off a ton in weight of food to her home for months afterward.

I, on the other hand, took a total of 2 days off work when my mum died and that included the funeral day and I only took a couple of days off work when my dad died.

The difference? My friend is Greek. They have a far more civilised way of attending to grief.

Kaye, my Brother spoke so highly of those who cared for him during his chemo and Hospital stays during the past few months, they are such a dedicated team of the most wonderful people. Bless each and every one of them, they are angels.

Catty, have you been checked for thyroid problems? I get foggy headed if my thyroid med's are out of wack.

Thyroid has been checked Ms Freddie. :-x

I don't know what a normal level should be but 8.5 sounds very naughty to me. Back to walking young lady!

PS Have we ruled out dementia? :^O

Sorry guys. I won't be posting on here what is happening. I don't want to ruin this thread. We all know how it will go if I say anything. I am on Facebook or can be contacted by PM here.
Take care everyone. I am heading to bed.

Just a very quick hi to the OK'ers. Sorry I have been awol the last few days.

Well we have ticked tooma and thyroid off the ist Ms Mioux, that is a good thing. Yes grief does strange things to our brain and I agree with you re the Greek mourning thing....

I am foggy brained too, sometimes I can barely remember my own name. I put it down to thinking of too many things at one time. Repeat after me "I will try and live in the moment, just here just now".......hmmmm I am good ad giving advice, not following it.

Freddie, I think of you and your brother often โ™ฅโ™ฅ
