Trish, that sounds really scary. Hoping the doctors can get your condition stabilized quickly.

As Jacks said what is a TIA?

Ooooops yep canulars....brain is fried at the moment.

Apparently if I have to have the daily warfarin it has to be injections because of interactions with meds for my grafts. I was in a bit of a fog when he was telling me everything coz I was shocked. I was tested for the disorder when Miss 14yo was a baby but tested negative...turns out they didn't test for the correct "factor".

I don't know how I am supposed to avoid stress...I am trying self-hypnosis which I learnt years ago to deal with exam stress. I just keep trying to face each thing with the attitude of "How important will this be in 6 months time ?" or "Is this my problem or someone elses' that I am just taking on ?" <<
The stupid thing is...everything in our immediate life is great...it is just the periferal stuff. People that try to bring us down out of revenge or bitterness, other people not coping because of their life choices but choosing to blame me, worrying about friends' problems etc etc. So now I just wear my Teflon Suit. They throw their crap and it slides right off and trickles back to their own feet for them to deal with.

The good side of this is...I am being forced to slow down and appreciate things once again. We've not had the car on the road for almost two weeks, so I have been pottering around the house, nesting, enjoying time with the family and doing some knitting, crocheting and reading.

Hopefully the car is finished this afternoon and that will be the last stressful thing that I can have an impact on.

Trish try not to engage in other peoples stuff .. it doesn't belong to you. Self hypnosis is a great idea for relaxation. Once you practice enough you'll be able to put yourself in a calm frame of mind almost immediately.

Ms Mioux is right Trish, you just have to try not to get into other people's stuff.

The "will it matter in 6 months time test" is a good one too.

I don't know anything about self hypnosis, but a number of people on this thread, in particular, will tell you of the calming affect of meditation. Just 10 minutes a day might help?

A transient ischaemic attack (TIA) is caused by a temporary cut in blood supply to the brain, due to the partial blockage of an artery by a blood clot or debris. A TIA has the same symptoms as a stroke, but they are temporary as the clot naturally dissolves or is dislodged from the blockage. A TIA does not usually cause long-term brain damage.

A person who has had a TIA, or โ€˜mini-strokeโ€™, is at greater risk of having a stroke or heart attack. Early identification of symptoms and a diagnosis from your doctor greatly reduces the chances of a major stroke.

TIA is an early warning for stroke
A stroke interrupts blood flow to an area of the brain. A blood clot could block a blood vessel or (more rarely) a blood vessel might break. Brain cells in the immediate area are starved of oxygen and die. Without prompt medical treatment, the surrounding brain cells may also die.

A TIA has identical symptoms to a stroke, but these last for less than 24 hours and are followed by a full recovery. A TIA is a powerful warning that an area of the brain is being deprived of blood and that a stroke may follow in the next few hours, days, weeks or months. Urgent medical attention is needed.
