Catholic Church Fails to Behead A Single Person in 2014

For the most intolerant and extreme religion in the world, this is a rather embarrassing statistic.

It appears that the Catholic Church, widely recognized as the most uncompromising and dogmatic among the world’s major religions ended 2014 without beheading or executing a single person.

As everyone knows, the Catholic Church is a religion of strict doctrine, ruling every aspect of each individual Catholic’s life from the Vatican with an iron fist, while at the same time relentlessly imposing its beliefs on the rest of society.

Yet for some reason the Catholic Church has had an abysmal year at the chopping block, failing to kill a single one of its billion-plus members for failing to live in strict adherence to her teachings.  On top of that, the Vatican has put to death exactly zero people from other religions for refusing to convert to Catholicism.

Even some followers of Islam, universally known as a religion of peace and tolerance, have found time on the weekends to behead a few non-believers commit mass murder.

And yet the Catholic Church, far from resembling anything having to do with peace or tolerance, has taken incompetence to a whole new level when it comes to imposing its beliefs. Not a single BEHEADING happened in 2014 in the name of the Catholic Church

2015 is a new year let’s see what happens in the name of the Catholic Church

The Catholic church has such a proud history.

The Benefits of Burning Heretics at the Stake.

Dr. Carroll, in response to the post by Michael Edwards-Ronning on 5-11-02: I think that the popes during that time felt that the killing of heretics was just. To figure, wouldn't it be a lot better for the general population if a few mainstream heretics were killed, so that the whole population was not "infected" by the heresies of the few? What I am trying to say is that it wasn't a terrible idea. Kill a few heretics to save the eternal souls of the population. That may seem harsh, but that is the basis of my assumption. Thanks.

Well stated. I agree with you. - Dr. Carroll.

*Re: Burning heretics at the stake
Question from Leslie Tate on 05-17-2002:*

I have read with increasing horror the recent posts condoning the burning of heretics at the stake. It seems that the conservative branch of the Church feels that the Crusades, the Inquisition, et. al. were completely justified. The Church is NEVER wrong, and if you EVER question what went on in those years, I suppose you are branded a what, a heretic?? I do know in my historical studies that, without a doubt, there were many corrupt practices taking place in the Church, and that some of the so-called heretics were really just good people trying to make some changes (such as letting the bible be translated into the language of the people, to be read by the people). Would not these people who state that it was the right of the Church to burn heretics say that modern day "heretics" (Billy Graham, perhaps?) be equally condemned because they are Protestant? I cannot believe that ANYONE who professes to be a Christian would ever condone the torture and burning of heretics. I am losing my faith in the Church if this is the case.
*Answer by Warren H. Carroll, Ph.D on 05-20-2002:*

Heretics are revolutionaries against the Church, and if they are given a free hand can and will imperil the salvation of millions and begin the upheaval of society. Ask anyone who knew the Communist revolution in Russia or Cuba what horrors revolution brings. - Dr. Carroll

What a stupid heading for this topic.  Typical hate mongering.  Just because individuals or organisations commit crimes in name of a religion, or person of that religion does something abhorrent,  does not mean that every member of the religion supports such actions.  It is pathetic to keep saying otherwise.

But if you want to go into it, there have been plenty of atrocities committed in name of Catholicisms.  Beheading, burning alive, and wiping out any groups that did not convert.  Religious fanatics of any persuasion are dangerous.

for opposing religious teachings

did you know that public beheading

is a form   of capital punishment in

saudi arabia?

The last reported execution for sorcery took place in August 2014

If you want to see a real hate-fest, try the stinking thread.

I have noticed that you have contributed with some hateful and to the discussion irrelevant cartoons.

Yes of course. That's the whole tone of the thread and the kind of response it elicits.

If the cartoons are irrelevant then what's the problem?

No it is not the tone of the thread, there is  difference between discussion about policies and decisions of the present government, which is the main thrust of that thread, and posting nasty cartoons of opposition or the previous government,  which are just unpleasant for the sake of it.
