Now is a very good time , with good reason to cut ties with China altogether.
They've made it very easy to trade , but there are other alternatives .
Initially when manufacturing went off shore , Chinese products were much cheaper . Now they are not to the same degree. Cheap and nasty, very much the reason for this throw away society we now live in .
Massive waste of the earths resources happening there .
So far as buying food from China , it's something I've tried to avoid for many years .
Now that they are cloning beef, pigs , etc , you can be sure by products will find their way to Australia in foodstuffs . Not something I ever want to eat .
Also, they are communists , they treat their people appalling ly, millions in " education camps " . People killed for their organs , so much more. You trade with these people , then you condone what's going on there .

If you refuse to buy Chinese made goods you are not going to have much choice of goods in Australian retail shops. So many Aussie businesses manufacture in Chinese factories and bring the stock back here....proudly labelled Made In China!

There's still plenty of foods not made in China , not for too many more years if people don't stop buying their rubbish to save a few cents . At the same time Aussie manufacturing is slowly disappearing.

Coles and Woolworths are possibly the biggest culprits. I shop at foodland , where the owners endeavor to stock , not only Australian products , but more specifically South Australian , where I live .

Foodstuffs would have to be a very small proportion of the total number of Chinese manufactured goods. It would be very easy to bypass food but not so easy to ignore electronics for instance.....and clothing.
