Worth repeating IMO
And again...with feeling!

Sorry to hear about your tragic past.
Thank you.
I have managed to have a very good life in spite of the rough start.
I have not set foot in a church except for weddings and funerals in the last 45 years.
I also have the satisfaction of knowing that if their is a hell, which we were assured very single day that we would burn in, then my grandfather is rotting there because if ever there was man who deserved to burn it was him.
What really peed me off with joanies reply was that she managed to turn my experience into yet another excuse to "cop bash".
Wonder what Joanie's bible/church/pastor says about constant cop-bashing rhetoric?
Surely it's not advocated in her religion?
But then again, her god's so conflicted, he preaches death and destruction, then peace and love in the next breath - no wonder theists are so confused!
Glad to see you've put the past behind you, too. I too, had a sexually abusive grandfather. Luckily, I grew up fast and decked him - what a GREAT feeling!

Hi everyone, the discussion is getting a little heated. Please be sure to keep your communications civil. Thanks!

Hey Joanie - re:Re: "Christ's Last Words To Israel" - can you sum it up for me please. I don't have the download capacity to view all that.

I don't know about his last words "to Israel", but according to the gospels his last words before his death were "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" followed shortly afterwards by "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."
According to the Acts Of the Apostles, his last words after his resurrection and before his ascension werre: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Yeah, I noticed that too. the bible contradict itself on what Jesus' last word is.

Hmm. Curious. If, as the religious are wont to say, that Jesus was another persona of god, then why ask such a question - when everything that has, and is to come, was preordained by said god? Surely he knew what was about to befall him - he after all, supposedly placed his son/himself, on Earth to die in such a fashion? The bible says so.
Ah ha! Maybe jesus wasn't god in another guise after all - and god conned him!

I thought his last word were bring me more water so we can drink more wine.
If I could turn water into wine that would be my last words knowing I was going to be nailed up to a piece of wood
