He he. It's all in the interpretation. If you want it to say it advocates violence, then just interpret it that way.

If you want it to say it advocates peace, then just interpret it that way. (Mind you, the religious have been interpreting it this way for hundreds of years - it just seems that Americans can make it say what they want it to say!)

Jesus does not endorse violence of any kind. God is all about peace and love. It sickends me that you would equate what i'm sure was a tragic case of abuse to placing blame where it does not belong. I am soooo sorry that me blaming his use of the bible as a reason for his abuse of myself, my sisters and my mother and grandmother sickens you joanie.

As far as he was concerned the lord said that we were his chattels and he could rule us with a rod of iron...which he did.

As Atticus Finch said to Scout...the bible in he hands of some men is worse than a belt in the hands of others.

I have NEVER, EVER been abused by any police officer and I doubt that I ever will be...just like the vast majority of the Australian population.

It will be a cold day in hell when I ever watch any of your preaching videos or any others for that matter.

Thats one odd church you go to and not one many people here in Australia would agree with. Many here dont agree with religion of any form so I do think the endless links with no information about them kinda pointless

Hang on...I'm confused. Exactly which one is it? You can't have it both ways!

Jesus wants his people to have the means to ensure peace and love, to protect themselves and their familys against violence. If the tyrants have a sword, then Jesus said we should, a gun, whatever government has to attack the people, the people should have to defend against that attack. Here are some examples that we need guns to protect ourselves not from the nightstalker, or a break in burglary, but from government and police.

Joanie is a good example of how religion works.

THis is why religion makes everything worst. You can find anything in the bible or the Koran to justify anything you like including killing. Except now you really think it's true and should be acted upon because you believe you're now following what God wants.

Thank you.

I have managed to have a very good life in spite of the rough start.

I have not set foot in a church except for weddings and funerals in the last 45 years.

I also have the satisfaction of knowing that if their is a hell, which we were assured very single day that we would burn in, then my grandfather is rotting there because if ever there was man who deserved to burn it was him.

What really peed me off with joanies reply was that she managed to turn my experience into yet another excuse to "cop bash".
