Coffee machine cleaning

Does anyone know how to clean the inside of the coffee machine, please?  The cleaning stuff you run through them to decalcify the water pipes.

If you mean the pod-type of machine, Woolies sell la bottle of descaler right where the pods are. It's a clear plastic bottle containing a clear liquid. The bottle is about 300mls, which is 2 cleans, and costs about $6.00-ish from memory.

Cheers,
Marina.

No, it's not a pod machine but the pod cleaner would do the job. Last cleaning stuff I had was a powder which mixed with water.

I shall check my local woolies again or larger supermarket on my Christmas travels  😄

Thanks, Marina.

PS. I think my machine needs a double dose or two cleans. The poor old thing is all clogged up

Freaki, don't you have a manual for the coffee machine? It should tell you what substance to use for cleaning. Else, type the makers name in to Google and find the claning instructions for your coffee maker.

No, the manual got lost when house sharing away from here.

I know how to clean it but haven't been able to find the cleaning stuff locally.

I've got a pod machine, but also have the older type at the holiday house and it was all full scale, so I used the Woolies one and just let it sit in the machine for a while before running it through (did it twice and used all the descaler), then just ran water/steam through a few times and it seemed to clean it up fine - heaps of chalky scale came through!

Good luck,
Marina.

That sounds like exactly what I want, Marina. I'm going to get some tomorrow and hope for the best. The poor old machine is struggling to perform at the moment because of the lack of cleaning solution.  Last time I looked at woolies they had none but they have recently changed their coffee selection so might have some in now.

They got rid of my favourite el cheapo but always fresh coffee.  Very unimpressed about that because the grinder has broken and I need ground coffee.  The cheap one was always fresh. It took me years to try it because it was so cheap but it turned out to be rather nice.  😄

We got a coffee machine recently (not a pod one) and I can't for the life of me get a decent cup of coffee out of it.  We have got our son and partner a pod machine for Christmas (sshhh, don't tell him) so I'll wait to see how that goes and if it's ok maybe ditch our big one.  It didn't cost much, we bought it at an auction (maybe that's why it's so bad)

I ditched an expensive DeLonghi ($1000) for the Aldi pod machine ($79) cause the Aldi is ten thousand times better lol.

Yes, the Aldi ones are not bad.  We don't have any Aldi store here though. This one is a Breville. As a rule it is great but not so much when it is overdue for a clean. It still works but has developed some odd habits like working when it feels in the mood and stubbornly refusing to work when I'm rushed.  😄

I did bring a stash of Aldi coffee back with me   😄
