Seems to be getting worse. I am getting at least four such calls per day.
Just now someone rang to give me information about funeral insurance.'Not trying to sell me anything' though. lol.
I used to wonder why Americans used answering machines, now I know. 😞 To screen out the nuisances.
I think I will go back to hanging up on them.

Katy when I was in Aus I put us on the do not call list, if they call you when you are on this list they can be fined.
Charities can still call you but not companies.
I remember I did it on line.

Thanks for that link Twn.
Lion, I might have to re register with do not call.
Icy, must be a big nuisance for businesses.

I am on the do not call list but................ I have insurances, phones etc and those companies call regularly. Now, I don't answer private numbers or those I don't recognise.
Apparently my phone has a message bank but since I don't know how to retrieve those messages, there they sit.
My sister answers her phone with Hola yo no hablo inglés.

I use both those tactics, first I ignore Private numbers or numbers that start with 0285, and if I do get caught out I do they Hola, que? que? thing.
I feel sorry for the poor buggers whose job it is, must be a **bleep** of a job, but I wish there was a law against phone solicitation

LOL
or you could try; "Helo, nid wyf yn siarad Engish" or "Hei, jeg snakker ikke Engish"

we never get cold calls because we don't give away our adress for fly buys & co.
If you have already done that and get cold calls all the time, you could get a new phone number and don't give it to people other than your friends/family.
