Comments for the nature thread.

I really like the garden posted by Kopenhagen. My new backyard is a blank slate I would love to find the time to make something like that. It reminds me of a Japanese garden. If I cound get the tree laying on its side in Dsk's pic...it'd be great!

The Moeraki boulders posted by Am*3...bit of a mystery those things. Millions of years ago the oceans were red due to a high iron content. Stromatolites (sort of the early version of coral reefs) formed all over the planet producing oxygen creating a rust in the ocean which formed the iron deposites we dig up today and changed it's colour to what it is now.

Mentioned here at 16:37 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsn3wpVAcjk

It's possible those boulders are Stromatolites. Maybe your drier hotter weather caused the smoother shape than elsewhere.

Re: Comments for the nature thread.

Jimmy, that is the Japanese garden in Tivoli gardens.

Aha, I was right, lol.

I don't have the cord to download pics from my camera, but took some yesterday for the thread. Although so many are really good I'm having a hard time not giving each one a kudo. The pics I took can't compare anyway....too much concrete. 🙂

Strange question. I went to look but the place I live now only has a shower. It's really big, I could cram 8 people in...3 with room to spare (or spar...spa). Considering the thread we're in I'll say....

I can picture the bath tub at my old place and it has a flood hole...naturally!

Pimpy re: that picture of the tortoise on the gravel surface.

Were you as close to him as the photo suggests? If so, I sure hope that is not  a road.

There were a few tortoises in my local market garden area that used to "dam hop" by crossing a road.

I quite like the photos of the patterns/textures of treebark that you have presented, too.

Re: Comments for the nature thread.

yep, I was that close, I sat the camera on the road then waited, and waited for him to stick his head back out.

And yes it was on a road. The road was blocked at either end by flood waters though, so Mr Turtle was quite safe.
