Cooking Faux Pas.......

I stuck a frozen burrito into the over-the-stove microwave a number of years back, punched in 3 minutes, then decided I needed to spend a little time on the throne.

I was immersed in a magazine, when I noticed kind of a burned smell wafting through the bathroom.........remembering the burrito, I returned to the kitchen, through a haze of smoke ( detector never did go off) and gazed at the now dark microwave.

Inside, what looked like last night's log fire glowed malevolently deep inside.  Apparently I had entered 30 minute into the oven, instead of 3 minutes.  Not only the burrito had been toasted, but the microwave also...........

A $400 experience!!

Re: Cooking Faux Pas.......

If that burrito had a foil wrapper on it, you could have at least experienced a cool $400 light show. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: Cooking Faux Pas.......

One of my sons had a children's cookbook when he was young.
One day he and a friend decided to follow the recipe for making a pot of tea.
The first step said to fill the kettle and put it on the stove to boil.
Trouble was, we had a plastic electric kettle and gas hot plates ๐Ÿ˜ž

My first experience cooking in the microwave was to cause a lovely christmas pudding to turn into Mount Vesuvius complete with pyroclastic flow ....  Smiley Frustrated
