Cooking Faux Pas.......

I stuck a frozen burrito into the over-the-stove microwave a number of years back, punched in 3 minutes, then decided I needed to spend a little time on the throne.

I was immersed in a magazine, when I noticed kind of a burned smell wafting through the bathroom.........remembering the burrito, I returned to the kitchen, through a haze of smoke ( detector never did go off) and gazed at the now dark microwave.

Inside, what looked like last night's log fire glowed malevolently deep inside.  Apparently I had entered 30 minute into the oven, instead of 3 minutes.  Not only the burrito had been toasted, but the microwave also...........

A $400 experience!!

Re: Cooking Faux Pas.......

a whole heap of green strawberry mousse here

grabbed the wrong food colouring from the shelf and never registered as I was adding it that it was going green, not pink.

Kopes - watched a lady - a marvellous home cook and had bought up 5 kids prepare to make popcorn for a school fete's cake stall. She put a pot of oil on the stove.... as in not a bit in the bottom, but enough to deepfry the kernels in.

I caught on to what she was doing before she added the kernels, so don't know what would have happened...but...

I just figured that someone with 5 kids who could make all kinds of delicious treats would have made popcorn before, but apparently not.

Some people can go their whole lives and never really live for a single minute.
