That village is amazing.
The influence on the modern houses is obvious. I love the look, love it.
And what a good-looking family.

I very much like the harbour and old wharf, the building style in the “near Bryggen”, and the fish market. It’s a simple and attractive style, almost like a model village (if that makes sense).
The forest of Bergen exudes cool fresh sharp piney redolence; beyond where the curving coast protrudes into the glassy sea, there’s a wonderful sense of distance and adventure that is beautifully captured in the photo. I also love the way Old Bergen lies in the embrace of the hills behind it, and the straight shipshape lines of the buildings in both old and modern Bergen along the cobbled and stone-paved streets.

I couldn't have described it better than your exalting words.
The old buildings of 'Bryggen' were built in 1702 entirely of timber and had water flowing underneath as they sit on the original wharf. I believe the water from the bay is now blocked so as to preserve the foundations.
So walking around inside the maze of buildings, one walks on timber.
