What did VIC learn from the early Chinese experience ? or New York , Northern Italy , UK

Where is the danger ?

Winter time

High density living

Industrial centre

Not enough ongoing testing

Central heating

Gregarious social living

Low exercise in isolation

Low sunshine exposure in isolation

Why are deaths rates low in Africa ?

Fresh air , exercise , sunshine ? contributing to relative resistance ? possibly ?

So what should they have done? What is your solution?

People in the State where I live are behaving exactly as they were before Coronavirus. People are now more relaxed, enjoying life, but are a little complacent. Yet barely any new cases for days! I think Victoria were no different, but were unlucky.

280 odd detections today - logarithmic so a good sign that detection methods are sound - should start to reduce soon unless really established and widespread - a shame testing was not more thorough , would have saved now blowing an additional 1,000 million per week..

Can not really think of what such money available would have bought - like basic emergency but respectful, safe and warm/cool short-term/overnight "beehive" for all homeless , transients , over night drunks , chill-out , run-aways, benign asocial blah blah - no more sleeping in the weather on the street in our honky white-washed paradise

One of nine Melbourne public housing towers to remain in strict quarantine due to coronavirus infections

its prolly a good example of why these high rise slums are a bad idea

in saving money by 'housing' thousands on a small site we have built huge virus incubators

we certainly have become the clever country

we have millions of acres of vacant land in this country but we feel the need to house people in these stupid places

this, from a nurse, testing residents of the towers:

Paints a different picture to what many would have expected.

The USA have cornered the market on that drug - but I think they were going to send a complimentary shipment to Australia

Just because it is high rise does not mean it is bad.  I once visited old lady in one of these towers in Carlton.  It was very high up, and she just loved living there.  The rooms were small, but the view just spectacular, and she could see planes as they were about to land in Tullamarine airport, some 20km away.  She was also happy that nobody can break in through the windows, and all it took to feel secure was having secure door.

But it is very crowded when large families with lots of kids live there.  Obviously, you need to be very low income to even qualify to get a flat in these buildings, and many people are disabled and often metally ill.  But the lockdown is not just to protect the community from "them"  it is to protect the people who live there and are not infected.  With thousands of people living in these places, you cannot avoid being close to people the moment they leave their apartment.  They have been all tested now, and in the towers that have been cleared, the lockdown ended.

The lesson learned?  We should all have bit of extra food in the cupboards, if you are on medication, make sure you have at least a week extra, and do not let your supplied of any  run right down.  necessity

What happened?  This is not the first time that words get jumbled up and put somewhere else than they were.  I usually notice and fix it.  It should have been:

We should all have bit of extra food in the cupboards, if you are on medication, make sure you have at least a week extra, and do not let your supplies of any  necessity run right down.
I even had a word disapear, and when I posted my comment, I found it above the quote of the post I was replying to.  LOL
