I reckon she only apologised because of all the abuse she got on social media. Another self-entitled idiot. She's lost her connection with Fitbit, whatever that connection was. Probably worth money to her. I do hope so.

Jacinda said it had to be human contact, I am worried that maybe 14 days isolation may not be enough, some peoples systems work slower or perhaps had a false neg test.
At the moment it is all about controling the clusters on their contact with others.
Lock down 3 in Auckland another 12 days, still lock down 2 for the rest of New Zealand

That is what can be expected. As death lag behind infections, many people taking month or longer to succumb, I would expect the death rate not to be going down significantly yet. Wish infection would be better than just leveling.
But I am afraid many people do not take it too seriously. This morning I went to ALDI, they have potting mix as one of their specials. I have heaps of veggie seeds to plant, and no potting mix. Anyway, so i got there at 8.30 on the dot and the line waiting to go in was all the way around perimeter of the parking lot. People wore masks but many did not distance at all. I am sure they did not want potting mix, so I think I will try again tomorrow; hope what ever it was everybody wants is gone by then.

Last night I got this on FB and later confirmed on ABC news. So, NO guards having sex, NO spread from inmates to guards, so, despite the chaos, the system was not responsible for the outbreak. Also it was said there was no "inappropriate" contact on the part of the night staffer.
“A night staffer at Melbourne’s Rydges on Swanston has been revealed as ‘patient zero’ in a media report.Leaked emails obtained by the Melbourne Age show a night duty manager – not a security guard – was believed to be the link between the hotel quarantine and the community spread. After becoming infected, the night manager passed the virus onto security staff who spread the disease to families in the northern and western suburbs of Melbourne, the report claims. It’s not known how the hotel staffer was infected but it’s believed a returned traveller in hotel quarantine may have been the source.”

And from who and how did the night manager get infected from ?
Just a matter of comparing strains with samples
kept from "returned travellers" guests who subsequently tested positive - there were tests conducted ?
And were staff instructed on mitigation practices at the early time ?
Questions but not unexpected as those drawn from various departments to manage and organise the project only as per their level of expertise and protocol of their normal department - they were afteral drawn from the public service - an orgaisation not known for reacting quickly to crisis in a manner effective but that that risks censure
