If were talkin trucks now, I would rather a Ranger. 302 v8 conversion, 5speed manual, trick flow aluminum heads, lifted at least 4 inches from the suspention and another 3 on the body... here is one in the works,
and heres one i seen in a parking lot the other day and snaped some pictures of,,
from inside my car.

I remember my father bringing home a '62 Corvette, with the notion I might enjoy it.........until he was informed how much the insurance would cost. I always loved those solid axle Corvettes.....

I only ever seen Corvettes with v8s in them. Like to see one with a 4,3 v6 and manual transmission. Probibly be easy to do, the drivetrain could come from an S10.

The first Corvettes had straight six motors as Chevrolet didn't produce a V8 until 55
Not the same, not even close. maybe the number of pistons, theres where it ends. The ZR1 Corvette's v8 couldn't hold up it's title as the fastest production vehicle made in the US, when the GMC Syclone (a truck) with that 4.3 v6 came out. Did they take the hint, no, they just kept right on putting v8s in them.
I heard or read somewhere that the 4.3 v6, was a small block 350 v8 with two less cyls. makes sense, less gas, less parts to fix, fits in smaller space.
I don't know why they still make inline 4s, why not a v4? that would have to be better wouldn't it? If Chevy made a good v4, id want to see that in the corvette. or chevettes brought back, lol... But I know Chevy or rather GM, makes a good v6. They have been proven in the Buick Grand National GNX and the GMC syclone.
Most inline 6s I hear running, I can detect a rattle in the lower block. Main barring rattle. I think they get that after 50,000 miles. It's that long crankshaft getting all the stress from above, whereas, a v6, v8, gets stress from eather side. Just a better engine design.

The inline 6 used by Chevrolet from 1962 on had 7 main bearings, and those engines (and their predecessors) were known for their power and durability..........

When gas was 30 cents a gallon, there was absolutely no reason not to have a V-8, the more horsepower the better. My Camaro's tach registered 2200 rpm's at 70 MPH......my redline was 7000 rpm. You do the math.
When I slammed it from first to second, the body twisted enough to make the interior light blink on.
Ah, the joys of youth........
As for the tally-whacker business........I never received any complaints, and can provide testimonials upon request..........
