i think any cruelty to animals is abhorent and those who carry it out are disgusting. there is no need for this type of treatment to animals, and yes i am a vegetarian, don't buy leather and use cruelty free products.

The assumption that animals are. without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous exmple of Western crudity and barbarity.Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality -Arthur Schopenhauer*
*He's the philosopher whose name begins with an 's'.

Tulip, because this is one of my true held beliefs I have quoted in full......
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from
the cruelty of man."
Mahatma Ghandi (1869-1948)

Do you want to actually do something about the treatment of these animals and others..........support Animals Australia.
They continue the relentless campaign long after it is no longer headline news..

I still can't understand why it is that NZ doesn't do live export and Indonesia is happy to accept frozen meat from there so, why not here too? abbotoirs could be re-opened here and jobs created.

just because jobs are created doesn't mean that people want to do them.

One of my earlier jobs was as a pay clerk for Wesfarmers Linley Valley meats. I used to help prepare the pay roll for the abattoir workers at Wooroloo.
They had no problem filling the jobs including Halal slaughterman. I can't see the problem with exporting frozen meat.

I feel sure the refugees/boat people would give anything to work in abattoir's if the Aussie's won't.
