Cup Sweep-for fun only, not for real

I was just wondering if anyone here would be interested in being in a Cup Sweep.

It's sort of a Melbourne tradition, even for non gamblers.

Of course, a board cup sweep would be for fun only, no money involved.

How it would work is simple. If people want to be in it, they just say so, then before the cup I could enter the names, pull out the horse names and let people know what horse or horses they have before the race.

Obviously, there are no prizes except the honour and glory of having had the winning horse.😅

We used to do this on another board I was on and it was all a bit of fun. We had first, second and third place winners plus an honorable mention for whoever had the last horse!

If you'd like to be in it, just add your name.

Just to add more ' spice ' to the Horse thread.

As with ' Caption This ' - add the pic with your explanation of what these are used for.

They arrived today - never seen them before - DD - explained the use.

For Horses - use your imagination - be ridiculous - have fun.

They are made of plastic - they bend - they have screww holes. lol

Edited to say - The Trip to Venice relies on your anwers.

They're obviously "mud-shoes" (like snow-shoes) for a 3 legged horse, for use in waterlogged paddocks.  It's just so obvious!  😁

I have not 2 but 4 grandkids here creating havoc.

I will close it off about 6pm if that is okay & do the draw soon after that. Will post placings tonight.

They are for the game "Where Will the Horsie Poo".

You number each one (usually more than three), lay them out in the paddock  then take bets on which one gets the most poo plopped on it overnight.

OMG ambercat, that would have been a great prize. Mr Ned would have loved it. But I have something rather swish planned for any horsie winner.

repentatleisure-I guess I am exposing my lack of knowledge of terms. I don't even know what horses are favourite.😂

I just went to print out another sweep form to write on when I noticed I could have done a computer generated draw. Too late, I had already used the latest in technology to do the draw.😅

The green had our names, the small container had the horses and I just drew one of each & recorded.

I had two left over horses so I threw the names back in the green tub and the lucky two people with an extra horse are kopenhagen and arctoph-49.

And twyngwyn, that cake joke isn't too far out. Only they shovelled it into themselves. Last lot left about 6.30 and I went to have a cup of tea and a biscuit and the whole pack of choc coated scotch fingers-gone!

Here are the jockey outfits so you'll know who to cheer onwards!

You will have to excuse my handwriting.

I don't know which are the best or worst horses here. All I know as I glanced down the list is one commentator said it would be a marvel if True Marvel won. Never mind, Domino, don't lose heart.

Good luck everybody.

The topweight also carries the same colours

All raced by the same successful ownership group.

At least you have genuine chances... mine will be lucky to beat the ambulance home.
