To all our friends further North stay safe..It could hit landfall anything between a 3 to 5 depending on what model runs true..... get your emergency kits checked and ready... lets hope it passes right across East -West and does not track down south, they have no idea what is going to happen after it hits land on Friday so lets just keep our fingers crossed.

Tropical Cyclone Ita has been downgraded to a category two storm as it travels down the far north Queensland coast. The cyclone made landfall at Cape Flattery about 9:00pm AEST on Friday night as a category four storm, but weakened as it travelled inland.Destructive winds of up to 150 kilometres per hour are lashing the region. There are reports that trees are down and homes have been damaged. The system is continuing to weaken as it moves south-southwest inland from Cooktown.

I have been through 4 cyclones. All you can do is take shelter in a safe place and stock up.
The feeding frenzy on TV was appalling and just another example of sensationalising to up ratings. They were still on it this morning, on every channel and your could see the disappointment that it wasn't as bad as predicted.
Calm reporting is needed in these situations and we have been through many cyclones in Australia so we know what to expect.
In the tropics they have a siren system on TV and radio updating the category. They don't pant to spread panic.

It may or may not work depending on how things go for them. They are from Oz Cyclone Chasers.

I follow these guys... they are great
hope everyone is ok... it is going to be a long treck down the coast and who knows where it will fade out... tracking down south as a cat 1 storm is still pretty concerning.

The amount of rain coming with it will be a concern......
