DDU can I ask you about your chooks? You do have chooks don't you?
Roughly what sort of cage do you have i.e. wooden? How many chooks & what/how much do you feed them? I searched chook houses on ebay, do you suggest a good one?


Klarry what is needed to fox proof a chook house? We were thinking wire underneath and perhaps sleepers too? Are snakes & rats a problem?


Any information would be good 🙂

No-one's taking my rooster I like him!

But I think I have to get rid of the silky frizzy she's getting picked on and keeps hiding under a bush from the rooster.

I didn't know that. Well my original chick is ready to lay then as she has nice red combs. I was looking at that the other day.

Hi Guys, been busy for a few days but YIPPEE! have had the first egg three days ago (upload pic soon) and now have three eggs, have had one each day. The eggs are quite small but Australorps are only smallish chickies.
Just one chickie laying but shall expect the other in a weeks or two, her combs are getting bigger.

I just got home there was an egg on the floor with a peck hole in it? Hope it wasn't a crow 😞

My Australorps are the biggest hens I have ... although none lay eggs. Even my hilines are taking a break .. and one of my chooks died today 😞 not sure why, just laid down and died ...

Will dose them all up with Sulphaquin tomorrow ..

You need to watch out and make sure it wasn't one of your chooks. If they get the taste of eggs then they'll keep doing it.

Wait and see if it happens again, then keep them in their coop and see if it happens again.

Yeah I'll keep an eye out. We had been keeping the door only slightly open for fear the crows were eating the seed but today it was wide open and we've been out.

hopefully crows. The only way to stop chooks eating eggs is to put them on the dinner table.
