Dangerous precedent

The residents of the Mascot tower are going to pay for repairs.
I understand that if they don't there's a good chance none will be done but now the builders of these death traps will think that they are no longer responsible for the shoddy construction

I suspect (but am not sure) that the residents are not legally responsible for the building incompetency of the builders ... it sounds as though they are being blackmailed in some way so they can get back into their homes?

i see selling units in these high rise building just got a lot harder.

people will be wanting much better information about who pays if things go wrong, besides things inside their units.

The time for the builders liability has lapsed.  That is to say the building is no longer covered by any form of warranty.

All builders  (No matter the size of construction) are liable for faults for a specified time only.
