“Abort it and try again. It would be immoral to bring it into the world if you have the choice,” -Dawkins.

With respect, I think that Reaganism must class as one of the most gormless statementss ever nade. Unless you've actually been born you can't have an opinion on ANYTHING.

No, essentially you're reformatting the comment in an attempt to bully them into answering to you.

For me though, I honestly think this would be one of the few circumstances where I would abort and try again. Not just because of the risk of all the possible health problems but because as a parent it must be so hard to have to care for a DS child (not to say that before too long you wouldn't just get used to it, but it just seems like a perfectly valid reason to abort imho.

No I dont believe I said that at all. But essentially I do agree with that comment. If a parent is incapable of caring for a child regardless of the health of the child then I dont think the child should be left with said "incapable parent" Who would leave a child with an incapable parent?

The test is not 100% fool proof.
Yes, my daughter was told this and they were wrong.
Which test was that? There are different test, and if people decide they cannot cope with DS child and want abortion, they would not have just the 1st, non invasive and less accurate one. They would have another tests to confirm the diagnoses.
No idea and am not asking now, 2 tests were done.......... said child is now 5 1/2.

If your daughter had had an amniocentesis then she would have got a negative result. They are almost 100% accurate for picking up Down's syndrome.
Not everyone would want to take the chance of an amnio though if they have already decided against an abortion regardless of the health of the baby.

I knew someone that had all those tests and they were very wrong. Couple were devastated to learn they aborted a perfectly healthy child.
Dawkins attitude reeks of eugenics. No one with any ounce of compassion uses the words immoral in such a manner.
I know many DS children who have wonderful lives and function very well in society. It's wrong to assume becasue someone is disabled, or does not fit the mold that they will not have any quality of life. Down Syndrome isn't a death sentence, its a disability that does have some health issues but generally speaking these people live full lives.

Nuchal translucency scan was the first test at 13 weeks, followed by 2 blood tests................

So what's worst; never being born or being born and be neglected and essentially abused?

I agree. They do live full lives. They bring a lot of pleasure to their families as well.
