Chaos as twin blasts rock Boston Marathon

Two bombs have exploded near the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing two people, injuring scores of others and sending authorities rushing to help wounded spectators.

There was a large explosion and a white flash. It blew us all back onto each other. It was so loud, I still can’t hear out of my right ear. I was crawling on the sidewalk, and my cell phone blew out of my hand. There were some really hurt people.

The explosions occurred as recreational runners were finishing, at just before 3pm local time (5am AEST). Television footage shows two explosions occurring metres from each other near Copely Square as competitors crossed the finish line.

Runners fell to the ground, which flowed with blood. Police arrived with bomb-sniffing dogs and hotels were put on lockdown. Reports say as many as 90 people were wounded, with some having limbs blown off.

When I saw wareubin's post falsely 'naming' one of the suspects I started googling to see where she had found her information. The 'suspect was a young man of Indian origin who had been missing for a month and was preumed to have commited suicide. In my travels,l I came across a  blog site where people were calling him every name under the sun, hoping he burned in hell and gloating because he wasn't the white, right wing fanatic some commentators had predicted. An earlier photo of him wearing a Che Guevara t shirt inspired one poster to say that as far as they were concerned that was all the proof needed that he was guilty.

Checking that website later - after the real names had been released I couldn't find one single post offering an apology. I wonder how that young man's family feel, having their son's name dragged through the mud based on nothing but rumour and innuendo.

Ele I saw that young man had been named all over the net, these people should feel ashamed, that poor mans family.

Their son is missing and may be dead, awful

Its the 'crack a few eggs' approach some people and countries take  when it comes to these matters.
