Chaos as twin blasts rock Boston Marathon

Two bombs have exploded near the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing two people, injuring scores of others and sending authorities rushing to help wounded spectators.

There was a large explosion and a white flash. It blew us all back onto each other. It was so loud, I still can’t hear out of my right ear. I was crawling on the sidewalk, and my cell phone blew out of my hand. There were some really hurt people.

The explosions occurred as recreational runners were finishing, at just before 3pm local time (5am AEST). Television footage shows two explosions occurring metres from each other near Copely Square as competitors crossed the finish line.

Runners fell to the ground, which flowed with blood. Police arrived with bomb-sniffing dogs and hotels were put on lockdown. Reports say as many as 90 people were wounded, with some having limbs blown off.

 “this happens every day in Afghanistan, Iraq etc...these poor people experience this every day...yet we only pay attention when it happens to ‘RICH WHITE PEOPLE’.

Guess what presenter on Aussie TV said this???? 

Not that surprised she said it actually... 

And I have been away... got the kitchen cleaned.. watered the pants, did some washing.. spoke to my son.... 

All with the QLD Parliament live streaming... felt much better...

maybe the guilty one got blown up too? and it was a personal vendetta?  sounds a bit amateurish for terrorists

There is a bit of talk going around it might be related to gun control...... and the push for new legislation to implement some more control and the fight against it.. 

not sure.. but I think we will hear more.. 

I have also heard conspiracy theories that it is a government plot to make the law look more appealing... to force the people to want it.. 

who knows.. I think we need to sit back and wait for a few more days.

Why do I get the feeling that this will revive the "Terrorist" campaign that has all but been forgotten?

Lets see if North Korea can somehow be worked into this.

I really hope people aren't going to start with the conspiracy theories.  It seems that it's not only  terrorists and guerrillas that like to stake claim and take advantage.  

Conspirators take advantage too.

I think conspiracy theories are inevitable, Joono. They rear their ugly heads every time there is an event like this.

It's amazing how many people find it easier to believe a convoluted lie than a simple truth.

The simple truth is that someone detonated two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

However, regardless of who is ultimately charged with the crime, you don't need a crystal ball to predict  the kind of conspiracy theories that will inevitably surface.

"It was NRA loonies.'

It was the anti gun lobby hoping to put the blame on the NRA.

It's a government conspiracy to enable them to enact draconian law and order bills.

It was the mafia.

It was Osama bin Laden, who isn't really dead at all only 'they' don't want us to know.'
