Death With Dignity, For or Against?

It's been 20 years since Oregon voted in the "Death With Dignity" act, not once, but twice.  Despite warnings to the contrary, not one case of "euthanasia for profit" has occurred, neither has Oregon been swamped with the elderly seeking doctor-assisted suicide.  Apparently Victoria is contemplating adopting a similar law.  What say you?

Re: Death With Dignity, For or Against?

i am in favour of it, watched my dad die a very slow death with no dignity!

and my eldest brother die from cancer. very painful, very slow. no matter what they say about modern drugs!

Re: Death With Dignity, For or Against?

I too am in favour of it.   None of my family members were in the position of needing to use the option thankfully but I would like to know it was available.

It is all very well for large families to be able to look after ill family members and make life as comfortable as possible with medical help, but what of people who have no family.....the medical profession does not have the time to fuss over them.

After working in aged care, I am all for it. i don't wish my family, myself or anyone else go through what I have seen.

Nobody should be forced to 'live' when they are in nothing but pain and suffering 24/7
