Poor woman ...
I really don't understand "eating" competitions where people feel the urge to put their lives at risk that way though .. such things seem bizarre to me.

fame at any cost comes to mind
like the many 'stars' of tv reality shows who after being 'someone famous' for a very short time end up really unhappy, then try hard to get some fame again by doing stupid stuff.
of the dozens of shows in the last 10 years who can remember any of the 'also rans' let alone the 'winners'

This woman was 60 yo
Just shows you can be an idiot at any age.
David, lots of 'also rans' made it bigger than the winners.

Shame the Lamingtons were not sent along as 'refreshments' to the emergency services guys and girls but instead wasted on those whose only 'talent' is how fast they can gorge their idiot faces themselves

And knowing - dry cake with a sprinkling of chocolate & coconut - eaten in a rush - could sticky up the pipes.
It was a stupid idea for an eating contest.

I guess we all make mistakes at times and sadly this woman has paid for it with her life ....... Condolences to her family who are now grieving her loss

Hmmm, the first report I read said that she was standing in line to register for the eating competition when she had a heart attack. Wonder which story is correct?

She was taking part in the competition.
