As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

"actually lakeland I am starting to feel a little envious of the wonderful ability to live in before last election land, it would be kind of pleasant."
I see from this post B1G that you have now decided to dabble in pre election times, C&P of course ! :
"Donor asked for Barry O'Farrell's home address to deliver $3000 bottle of wine: ICAC
A series of emails between Mr Sinodinos in his capacity as AWH chairman and Mr O'Farrell's chief of staff Peter McConnell show that Mr O'Farrell's office was eager in 2010 to do whatever they could to support AWH's dreams of getting a billion-dollar private-public partnership with the state government."
I will give this C&P stuff a go.
"ALP scrambles to unwind $200,000 donation to Rudd’s campaign"
THE Labor Party is taking urgent action to unwind a secret $200,000 donation, from a Taiwanese-born businessman, which it believes was arranged in breach of electoral laws for Kevin Rudd to conduct campaign polling on the eve of the election.
The massive donation from developer and former banker Kung Chin Yuan was paid into the then prime minister’s Griffith electorate branch bank account on September 3, allegedly without the knowledge of state Labor officials who are legally responsible for campaign contributions.
It is also alleged that the money - believed to be one of the biggest single donations in the federal campaign - was moved out of the ALP branch account within hours of it being paid from Mr Kung’s bank account in Taiwan.
The money was then handed over to Labor’s pollsters, UMR Research, to pay for polling privately commissioned by Mr Rudd and his political advisers, including Bruce Hawker. UMR polling, presented to Labor insiders in early August last year, canvassed voters about former Queensland Premier Peter Beattie running for a federal seat in Queensland.
Mr Rudd, who lost the prime ministership to Tony Abbott just days after the donation was made, has denied any wrongdoing, saying all campaign disclosures were the responsibility of the party. It is understood Mr Rudd was aware of the donation but denies having any role in arranging it.
ALP officials discovered the donation earlier this month during an audit that was ordered after the Griffith Federal Electoral Council failed to file its twice-yearly financial report to head office in late January.
Legal advice, commissioned by the Queensland ALP, found the donation was in breach of the Queensland Electoral Act, which bans political campaign funding from “foreign property”.
That was so easy, just C&P others work as long as it is a pleasing colour, no research, don't bother to read it, no additional personal comments. Gosh.

Turnbull’s NBN mess ‘escaping public scrutiny’
With Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation and Fairfax largely on the Coalition’s side when it comes to its radical overhaul of Labor’s popular National Broadband Network project, and even the ABC actively censoring discussion of the topic, it has largely fallen to the minority technology media and even individual IT professionals to cover the issue over the past several years. However, a new voice has recently emerged at UK independent outlet The Guardian. Controversial commentator Van Badham has not been dismayed by having her NBN questions shut down live on Q&A last week by host Tony Jones and has penned a fiery piece slamming Turnbull’s ‘Multi-Technology Mix’ vision and the general lack of attention being paid to it. Badham writes (we recommend you click here for the full article😞
Lagging speed, inevitable costly updates, the creation of a digital divide ... There are many questions to be asked about the Coalition's NBN plans, but don't expect to get a reply

NBN Co satellite costs blow out by $1.4 billion
"Electrical Trade Union national secretary Allen Hicks said Mr Turnbull had broken his promise that most Australians would have download speeds of 25 megabits a second by 2016."
Another C&P sans research, but I must admit it is so easy to do.
Facts.
The ALP NBN fudged their figures apropos costs, and to show that most remote customers would be covered, when in fact the satellite supply of NBN is now saturated due to ALP NBN miscalculation. New customers can not sign up, those connected will have restricted speeds, and they will have to wait until the launch of 2 more satellites in 2015-16 for better service. In the meantime fixed wireless will be expanded in an attempt to service the "remote areas"
Sorry B1G that was not a C&P, try this:

NBN Co needs another $1.4bn from taxpayers
NBN Co has asked the Federal Government for up to $1.4 billion more in taxpayer funds to adjust its fixed wireless and satellite business.
According to NBN Co's review into its $3.5 billion fixed wireless and satellite program, the company underestimated the demand for its services in the bush by 400,000 homes and businesses.
The increase in funding requirements was first revealed by The Australian Financial Review .
Where NBN Co's 2012 Corporate plan was geared to cover 1 million premises by 2021 with satellite and wireless broadband services, it only expected 200,000 premises to actually take on a service.
But the (current) review into the fixed wireless and satellite program predict that more than 600,000 premises will request access to the NBN by 2021.
NBN Co chief executive Bill Morrow will Wednesday announce the company has four options to fix the shortfall - all of which will cost between $900 million and $1.4 billion and require the company to install hundreds more broadcast towers across rural and regional areas than previously planned.
Gosh, that is so easy, the C&P, not fixing the shortfall !

I do understand B1G, children have the same problem with breaking crayons. Apparently it is because that they find it difficult to coordinate the use of the crayon/pencil and think at the same time.

Abbott budget to make Australia more unequal: economists
Economists warn the Abbott government’s first budget will increase inequality in Australia if it tries to reduce the deficit by predominantly cutting spending.
Saul Eslake, the chief economist of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, says it is “virtually impossible” to cut government spending in ways that do not disproportionately affect people on low to middle incomes.
“I suspect at the margin [the budget] will adversely impact the equity of the distribution of income,” Mr Eslake said.

NBN Co needs another $1.4bn from taxpayers....??
.......why, after the Coalition has taken from the disabled and pensioners I'm sure they have some really good ideas about whom they can target and line up in their rifle sights .....because this is not the age of entitlement anymore is it monman?

Abbott, Hockey and Cormann threaten permanent damage
Even the pro-Coalition media are now alert to blunders and broken promises by Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey — but are they alert enough, asks Alan Austin.
MOST OF THE HURT the Abbott government is threatening – to the poor, the disabled, the sick, refugees and aid recipients – can be reversed should the electorate reject it at the next election. The victims will certainly have suffered. That suffering can then be ended.
But what if damaging changes are made to Australia’s society which cannot be reversed?
Such is the risk with cuts to the minimum wage proposed by the audit commission.
