As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

yes. Like this comment:
If Abbott put his budget forward before the election he would not be in government. This is pretty obvious based on how he is fairing in the polls post budget. He therefore has no such mandate and I'm sure many Australians are waiting patiently to teach him a lesson at the next election.

I do wonder at the reasons for the first boat's passengers reasons for undertaking the sea voyage, because of the 41, 38 are Sinhalese and 3 Tamils. Latest comments from Sri Lanka indicate the "passengers" who have committed an emigration offence under Sri Lanka law will released under bail, whilst the boat crew/smugglers will be held.
But I am now in the poo because I read the article and have commented upon it, but I promise I will try the new format in my next post, honest.

How much research did you do in jumping to the conclusion about the Sri Lankans?
How tight is your blue tie today? Careful you don't cut off your own air supply when pulling it tight.

" Have to see if an International Court will take action against Conventions breached by our trusty Aussie decision makers breakers" matches aeronautical operating procedures.
However under the circumstances (and what little we know of them) what conventions (not laws) have been breached P007
All this would not be a problem if The Circus, under Rudd and Poor Me, had not ended the Pacific Solution, and indirectly caused the many drowning deaths that resulted from the resulting influx of boats.

certainly a few of these about the place......

The Ugly Australians
When one analyses the governmentโs general performance thus far, it is easy to form the impression that they are so focused on, and beating their chests about, stopping the boats, they havenโt noticed that the current polling puts them out of office in 2016.
A disturbing feature for the Coalition is that these polls override the governmentโs boatsโ policy and renders its treatment of refugees irrelevant. Scott Morrisonโs brutal statements via video which were produced as a deterrent for those in detention reflect not just his vicious and malevolent approach but reveal a dark and sinister government intent not just on stopping boats but also applying mental torture as well.
His refusal last week to confirm the presence of two boats allegedly containing 203 Tamils being intercepted by the Australian Customs is further evidence that he and the government have lost any sense of morality and think that stopping the boats is all they need to win the next election. How wrong these ugly Australians are.
In the video Morrison warns asylum seekers: โIf you choose not to go home then you will spend a very, very long time here and so I urge you to think carefully about that decision and make a decision to get on with the rest of your life.โ This is tough, uncompromising talk indeed and bullying by any other language.
