As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.![]()
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Clueless Coalition floundering while budget bottom line worsens
The Coalition came to government last year with no substantive plan for the economy.
It seems obvious now but the raft of promises for a โstronger economyโ and โfixing the budget messโ were mere platitudes with no policy substance behind them.
The proof of this cluelessness shows up in the fact that after 11 months in office, the budget bottom line has worsened as a result of government policy decisions and the economic growth outlook has deteriorated to a point where the unemployment rate has already exceeded the downbeat forecasts in Treasurer Hockeyโs Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook.
This is extraordinary given the clear improvement in the global growth outlook since this time last year and the fact that the Reserve Bank of Australia has been doing its bit to promote the economy by keeping interest rates at record lows.

They have to keep banging on about the past (at least the Lieberal view of the past - mostly spin and fabrications anyway) because there is nothing about this govt to talk about except bad policies, increasing unemployment, lame attempts at using minority "bashing" as a distraction, the illegal and immoral treatment of asylum seekers, destruction of our environment, total lack of any viable climate change policy and gaffe after gaffe after gaffe.....
I know I have forgotten some of their "achievements".

came across this, talk about a big load of outright lies, sick bag needed for reading it - Paints, thought you might appreciate this particular bit, the last bit is just for the memories![]()
kudos for abbott keeping a straight face though.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott's statement
One thing thatโs been most dismaying about the current government is their attempts to turn Australian against Australian, and, yes, when Mr Rudd came in, he said that divisive rhetoric would cease, but the first bit of legislation passed under more Rudd when he came back to the prime ministership was the legislation making 457 visas more difficult. Now, it's extraordinary that a government which has failed to stop people coming illegally to Australia by boat has tried consistently to demonise people coming to Australia legally and working and paying taxes from day one. You'll never find this kind of divisiveness from me. I am proud of Australia as an immigrant society, I am proud of the fact that people from all over the world have come here not to change us but to join us and that's social . . . will increase under a Coalition government.
And thereโs a commitment that I want to give you โ there will not be a minority government led by me. There will not be deals done with independents and minor parties under any political movement that I lead.
