Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

The ICAC is expected to release a report on Operation Spicer early next year.

Operation Spicer: From bag men to big man, ICAC shines spotlight on Liberals

Not based on gossip (especially admissions and  'fake invoices')

The inquiry, which concluded public hearings on Friday after nine weeks of testimony, has seen two first-term Liberal MPs fall on their swords after admitting to taking illegal developer donations to help fund their 2011 state election campaigns.

Geoffrey Watson, SC, "The evidence in Operation Spicer will disclose a systemic failure in the way in which politicians, political parties and political campaigns are funded in NSW and how that systemic failure encourages and rewards corruption. Something must change."

The ingenuity of the alleged rackets was eye-opening.

The first scheme allegedly involved a "sham" company called Eightbyfive, run from former Hartcher adviser Tim Koelma's kitchen table, issuing fake invoices for consulting services to disguise the donations.

The second used an alleged Canberra-based front organisation called the Free Enterprise Foundation to "wash" illegal donations and channel the money back to the state branch of the Liberals.

The Free Enterprise Foundation allegations have drawn senior NSW Liberal Party officials into the fray, including Sinodinos, who was then on the party's finance committee.

Subverting this law.

The developer donations ban, which was introduced in January 2010 and applies only in NSW, made it illegal for property developers to give cash or gifts to state political parties, MPs or candidates, or for the donations to be accepted.

This thead is titled The diary of our (current) Govt.. these Liberal MP's are/were part of the current Govt. I don't have to consider any other thing/person in the past when commenting on these allegedly corrupt individuals.

What happened in the past didn't influence them to the above law.

Has the above got anything to with my post(s) which are specifically about  ICAC (Operation Spicer) and Liberal MP's? No, it has not.

You are the one doing the preaching. I am, as freely entitled to, posting about the recent ICAC investigation.

Aboriginal family and children's centres in limbo

The future of some of the most disadvantaged children across Australia is now in limbo, following the federal government's withdrawal of funding from 38 Aboriginal Child and Family Centres.

"We are in no man's land. No one wants to take ownership," said Catherine Edwards-Bott, the executive director of the indigenous-run Brewarrina Business Co-operative. The co-op manages two Aboriginal Child and Family Centres in the poorest local government areas in NSW.

Tony Abbott to skip UN climate summit of more than 120 world leaders

Australian Prime Minister will not be attending a major United Nations climate summit next week, even though he will be in New York for another UN meeting the next day. More than 120 world leaders will gather in the city to tackle what the UN's Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon says is one of the defining issues of our time.

What a surprise!
