As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Abbott & cronies masters of double standards. Abbott should watch some video clips of himself as Leader of the Opposition.
Didn't he arrange to have them all deleted from the internet as as soon as he won the election?

My Nan used to say - ugly on the inside, ugly on the outside - very fitting for the entire LNP guvmint.

hockey probably made it up, he usually spins some little tall tale while telling his lies in parliament - as written in todays article in IA which I posted earlier
. Often, he will regale his braying backbenchers with a personal anecdote โ perhaps a tale he concocted about some imaginary old age elderly pensioner whom he says he met or wrote him a letter; or some reminiscence about his family's small business; or some incident involving Bill Shorten in the last term of Parliament. He will mock, he will point at the Opposition, he will chuckle at his own jokes; he will, in short, ham it up like he is playing Ali Baba in a Christmas panto at Drury Lane.

$31.00 a DAY for every Victorian is the cost of the white elephant desal plant
Imagine what all that money could do for the state if it wasnt paying off Labors massive mistake and debt

"We donโt fear violence, we donโt fear hunger. We donโt have the degraded life that many women around the world suffer."

so is that the royal "we" because there are plenty of women in Australia who fear violence and hunger and by the time this mob of far right zealots finish there will be a lot more.

bishop
Ms Bishop said the former Labor prime minister was judged by her competence. "She turned herself into a victim," she said.

omg what a stinking lie, do any of this LNP lot have any shame - just a little reminder of some of the disgusting treatment of our first female PM, I think the B word should be fine with the mods as it is a word for a female dog.

This thread's topic isn't and never has been one about personal share trading. Do stay on topic please.
your reply is also off topic............so run along and self report
So you do the same? Clever (not). Do not falsely accuse me of doing that either.
Why federal-state relations are so hard to reform
Since Abbott's plan raises the possibility of tax reforms - "including changes to the indirect tax base" - he'll be lucky if the "mature debate" and "rational discussion about who does what" he seeks doesn't erupt immediately into an Abbott-strength scare campaign about increasing the goods and services tax, led by a Labor Party with a long record of hypocrisy on the topic and a thirst for revenge.
In such a climate, the various premiers facing re-election in coming months are likely to swear total opposition to any change in the GST. These days our politicians excel in the Mexican standoff.

Good old Clive
Looks like another victory for the Abbott govt with their policies that they got elected with.
Clive Palmer to deliver for governmentโs Direct Action climate policy
CLIVE Palmer has struck a deal to implement the governmentโs Direct Action climate change policy, claiming a move that will โkeep aliveโ the prospect of an emissions trading scheme.
As part of the deal, the government is delaying plans to abolish the Climate Change Authority until after the next federal election and will direct the body to investigate scope to ultimately introduce an emissions trading scheme.
Climate Change Authority chairman Bernie Fraser will initially report back to the government next month, with an interim report in June 2015 and a final report after United Nations climate talks in Paris.
The Palmer United Party senators Jacqui Lambie, Glenn Lazarus and Zhenya Wang will provide three of the six crossbench Senate votes required to pass the legislation.
The government needs the support of only three more between independents Nick Xenophon and John Madigan, Family Firstโs Bob Day, Liberal Democrat David Leyonhjelm and Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party senator Ricky Muir.
In April, Mr Palmer said his senators would not pass direct action. โItโs gone, itโs dead,โ he said at the time.
Today Mr Palmer said: โThis is a win-win situation, not just for our party, not just for the government, but for all Australians
