Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

You really ought to stop living in the past, it has been more than year............   Looks like even you have nothing good to say about the present government if all you have to contribute are petty insults to our previous PM.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

http://www.watoday.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/no-interest-comments-come-back-to-haunt-ne...

'No interest' comments come back to haunt new Defence Minister Kevin Andrews

In his first day as Defence Minister, Kevin Andrews has hit a landmine of his own making.

The ADA has a very long corporate memory. We never forget. The minister can't remember the conversation. Hopefully we'll move on from it

Before even being sworn in as Australia's 52nd Defence Minister, Mr Andrews was forced to reassure the military community of his commitment to the task after it emerged he had once declared he had "no interest in defence issues".

Mr Andrews has been bitten by the remark – which he does not recall making – made in a private conversation during the Howard era.

Advocates for gay and lesbian service men and women have also expressed their wish that Mr Andrews, one of the government's most socially conservative members, does not derail ongoing equality reforms inside the military.

Executive Director of the Australian Defence Association, Neil James, said Mr Andrews' "no interest" remark was made to his predecessor, Mike O'Connor.

Mr James told Fairfax Media the association keeps a list of parliamentarians who make such remarks and also curates a list of the interest taken by all MPs and senators and their voting records.

"It's not a list we broadcast, but it's a long list," Mr James said.

"The ADA has a very long corporate memory. We never forget. The minister can't remember the conversation. Hopefully we'll move on from it," Mr James said.

Mr Andrews' confirmed he contacted the Australian Defence Association on Monday. "I spoke with Mr James this morning and assured him of my commitment to defence," he said.

Earlier, Mr James had said the association was "reasonably disappointed" in the appointment of Mr Andrews, describing it as another "terminal posting" for a politician in the twilight of their careers.

"Defence is getting very, very tired of receiving ministers who are really in there last term or two in Parliament. What we need is younger and more able ministers with a future ahead of them," he said

Mr James said it can take a new minister up to six months to get across the diverse and critical portfolio.

"It's always better if a minister for defence has some prior experience in the portfolio at a more junior appointment," he said.

"We fear there could be quite grave consequences of this change."

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

I saw that interview about "the twilight of their careers".  So the rumour that he is going to quit might not be a rumour after all.

You should really post the picture of Poor Me as a knitter, toy kangaroo for a Royal somewhere  on the other side of the globe, she was "good" at posing!.

So why was  Poor Me given the boot by the Caucus Circus Clowns.

Why did Poor Me spend so much time in the Circus knife act with Rudd

"Holden & Toyota"?,  with  the  ALP Head office (ACTU) running the ' workshop ',   I would hardly count car manufacturing as a plus.

"Full fibre NBN"  To how many dozen over the years?

"Carbon Price" a lot more expensive than the rest of the world, and which was not wanted.

"3AAA ratings"  "The restoration of Australia's AAA rating came after six surplus budgets were delivered by the Libs"  and  the Circus and Swan  proceeded to undermine the economic foundations they had inherited.

So why was the Circus, Poor Me, and Rudd given the boot?
