Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Thanks for article boris.

Women have taken to Twitter to mock Prime Minister Tony Abbott over his comment that repealing the carbon tax was an achievement for women.

Two hashtags - #thankstony and #PutYourIronOut - soon began trending.

"#Thankstony With the Carbon tax repeal I can buy a new apron,"

"#ThanksTony, because of the carbon tax repeal I can afford to leave my sandwich press on ALL THE TIME just in case my hubby wants a snack," said another.

"Thankstony for setting women and families back a few decades," one Facebook user said.

"Well he wasn't lying. Pity the only woman to benifit (sic) from repeal of carbon tax was Gina Reinhardt (sic) #ThanksTony," one man tweeted.

Is this Labor's fault?

Tony Abbott set to reshuffle his office amid criticism of communications strategy

Prime Minister Tony Abbott is expected to reshuffle his own office, with three key staff members including his communications chief to move over summer.

The Abbott government has faced sustained criticism of its communications strategy and a fierce backlash from voters over its unpopular first budget.

Speculation is rampant among Coalition staff that Mr Abbott's media chief, Jane McMillan, will not return to the Abbott office after clashing with chief of staff Peta Credlin over the government's communications strategy.

The disagreement between Ms Credlin and Ms McMillan came to a head on Thursday, after Fairfax Media was leaked information that Mr Abbott would spend the weekend pondering a frontbench r...which he then unveiled on Sunday.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

for those of us who read twitter and are aware of how the murdoch press tried to demonize the i'llridwithyou hashtag, this is a good article to read

Miranda Devine’s ingenuity in finding a way to indict her opponents for this tragedy shows us why she gets the big bucks. Her last column argued that “the left” was culpable because they offered assistance to those who might be subject to racist attacks through the #illridewithyou campaign – because Monis was a Muslim.

I see the NSW Labor leader is going for his letter and that Monis's wife has had bail revoked.

Senior Liberals were privately aghast when the Prime Minister nominated repealing the carbon tax as his "biggest achievement" for women because they are "particularly focused on the household budget".

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop was forced to defend Tony Abbott's latest gender-related gaffe as Labor lashed the Prime Minister as "stuck in the past

When Prime Minister Tony Abbott shuffled the government's ministry at the weekend he should have blackballed himself as minister for women.

The demotion would be performance based. He is out of date and behind the times when it comes to women and the modern family.

Scott Morrison's performance as immigration minister will be assessed differently, depending on where you stand. For those who think boat people are criminals who should be locked up, his time in the immigration portfolio has been hailed a success. For those who understand the truth of the matter, Morrison's time as immigration minister is a terrible stain on our history.
