Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Dangerous game to get into, markets can shift fast and over things you have no influence over and it can cost you big time.

The short term, over night money market is a good, safe bet.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

no you're wrong, that pay freeze wasn't actually abbotts decision, it was already pre determined by the tribunal. the relevant articles were shown and it was discussed earlier in this thread. you'll have to search back to find it, around April wasn't it??

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

We need a government that spends less time snooping into our Google browsing history and more time investigating the theft of billions of dollars of tax revenue each year. Barry Dunning calls for a Royal Commission into corporate tax evasion

You forgot to include this below  Debs

Barry Dunning  works at the Transport Workers' Union of New South Wales as media and communications manager. He has previously worked as a media and policy advisor to the Irish Labour Party.

yep. This should be changed. 'They' should not be in control of their pay rates, pay rises, perks and should NOT be entitled to arrange ANY entitlements.....especially after their jobs are done.....in retirement etc

Maybe abbitsmissing should put this issue to a referendum.....let's see what happens to the pollie pay and entitlements rort factory then!

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Tax minimisation is not the same as tax avoidance.

You all minimise tax within the law, why can't companies.

And if you don't minimise tax, you have rocks in your head.

Paint

Ok, so if you work for someone else, that would deny your union from negotiating your pay and it would be left to the bosses to set,

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Royal Commissions have sweeping powers to compel testimony and the resources to exhaustively investigate any claims. The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse is forcing priests (including Cardinal George Pell) and others into the stand to account for their actions in a way that no other forum can.

We also know that the Prime Minster is trigger-happy when it comes to Royal Commissions, splurging close to $100 million dollars of taxpayers' money on politically motivated vendettas against Kevin Rudd (Pink Batts) and the trade union movement (the Heydon Royal Commission).

I totally agree with this article though. pointing out some of the govt waste, especially at a t ime when the public have been told to tighten their belts

is that you too?

You lot are clutching at straws trying to nail Abbott on tax and pollie pay.

Pollie pay is decided by a BI partisan committee and I never see Labor voting against it.

And the tax laws have been in place for years and companies have been doing it for years,
Including Therese Rein yet you try to say it is all Abbotts fault.

What was labor doing for the 6 years they were in office ?

Why didnt they fix them since they highlighted the issue ?

Kevin Rudd froze wages in 2008 FACT
