As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Women rate Tony Abbott poorly on all fronts
December 26, 2014 - 7:13PM
By JWS Research, the analysis also shows women's satisfaction with their standard of living has declined much more precipitously than men's over the last year, a year the government has been under fire for failing to "get" women
The findings are based on the views of 1004 Australians aged 18 and over. The views were collected as part of an online survey conducted from November 19 to 24.
The findings, which come from a poll analysis broken down by gender, showed women believe the government is doing poorly on every single policy issue, as well as rating the government's net overall performance a full 13 points lower than men did.
"The perception is it's essentially a male government focusing on male issues," said John Scales, JWS Research managing director.

@debra9275 wrote:most of us who post here do not like the abbott govt. That's no secret and the way we feel is not going to change. this is a free country and we are entitled to say what we think (under the guidelines here of course). we post current day news articles and we discuss/comment on them
if you do not like it, bad luck, don't read it
go and start your own thread, where you can call people names to your hearts content
Well said, debra. Criticism of a current Govt is normal, unless you live in a country where doing that might get you locked up in prison or worse. Fortunately for us, we don't live in a country like that.
I might have time to do a 'search' on past posts from when Labor was last in Govt and note what comments were made then, by those here now, trying to make out this thread is nasty, mean etc.
Apart from that: there are 5000+ posts in this thread. Very low moderation intervention on any of the regular posters posts. Those who say the posts/thread are/is mean, nasty and all sorts of other 'high school' grade comments that is your opinion only. If the posts are still here, then they have not contravened board usage policy. Take debra's advice above.

I wonder if one day, when Tony A an ex PM (sooner, rather than later) if it will come out, what actually went on there? Someone telling him what to say through his earpiece? What does that say about him?

ITโS CHRISTMAS! ITโS CHRISTMAS!" Tony Abbott screeched and screeched as he tore into the Christmas wrapping like the carcass of a dead bird. Finally he tore it apart to reveal coal.
"COAL!" he shouted gleefully. He turned to Bill Shorten and screamed right into his face. "SANTA GAVE ME COAL! DELICIOUS COAL!" Abbott rammed some into his mouth.
"Thatโs, uh, not a good thing there, Tonyโฆ" Shorten replied, not quite sure of how loud he was speaking thanks to the ringing in his ears.
"Pffftt classic opposition leader always saying the opposite of me. Santa has been giving me coal since I was a child! Mother says it shows that he cares about me. Do you want some?" Tony held out a lump of coal uncomfortably close to Shortenโs face.
Bill recoiled. โNo.โ
"Thatโs OK I wasnโt really going to give it to you. That would involve generosity. I was lying to you to make you momentarily feel goodโฆ like I do to the public.โ Tony bit down into a lump of coal, crunching down with his mighty reptilian jaws.
Shorten stared at him with a mixture of disbelief and horror. Tony chewed for a few minutes before he spoke again.
"What are you still doing here, Bill? Get out of my house."
"Why did you even inviteโ" Shorten sighed. "Nevermindโฆ Iโll show myself outโฆ"

Acting opposition leader Penny Wong said no reshuffle could fix the government's biggest problem, its unpopular budget.
"You might change the tyres on the bus but the wheels are still spinning," she told reporters in Adelaide.
"It is a vote of no confidence in the PM's cabinet.
You don't need to have this extensive a reshuffle if your cabinet is performing well."
