Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Where is that from and how old is it? I see it's about Mark Latham
To me it looks like another Murdoch press blog. I read a lot, but I don't read murdoch as it's always politically biased garbage and I have absolutely no faith in anything they print
Is it supposed to mean something to me, because it doesn't

I did read an article recently that abbott cannot get away with his lying due to social media, thats probably quite right, lots of scrutiny these days

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Dec 4, 2014

What's my name, for a pick of the board...

I am an Australian Prime Minister.

At a critical point in my first term, my popularity was in decline, and my party's stocks were falling with it. Two-party-preferred polling showed a clear advantage - 53 per cent to 47 per cent - to my opponents.

My detractors - internal and external - pointed to a tendency for authority to be centralised in my office.

They complained about diminished access, of the micromanagement of policy and personnel.

Some say I became too focused on media management and sloganeering at the expense of real policy vision.

Key aspects of my legislative agenda were hamstrung by an obstructionist Senate.

Answer

Spoiler

If you answered Kevin Rudd, well done.

If you answered Tony Abbott, you're right too.

Politics can have eerie resonances and circularity

If there is a critical difference it is that Rudd's polling showed a sharp and unsettling decline, while Abbott's continues what seems to be a trend of endemic unpopularity.

That can hardly be a consolation to the Government, its supporters or its backbench.

A GRIFFITH man is among hundreds of World War II veterans who will miss the unveiling of a memorial in their honour in London next month after the federal government announced it would only sponsor a small delegation to attend.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

The search has resumed for a missing Singapore-bound AirAsia flight QZ8501 which lost communication with ground control while flying over the Java Sea, an hour before it was supposed to land 24 hours ago. Australia is now joining the search effort with this high-tech RAAF plane.

The Australian Defence Force deployed an RAAF AP-3C Orion aircraft from Darwin this morning to help with the search efforts.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Also with not for profit organizations paints, there is a certain component of their wages that is tax free so I think she would be getting tax breaks probably in running costs as well
