As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

I don't need to open it, the mother doesn't interest me at all.. quote the sentence/paragraph that answers my question and backs up you claim. Why did Abbott have regular/frequent contact with an ex-girlfriend over 27 years (when the 'child' they had together was adopted out) and where was that published? Did his wife know about that, IF it occured?
Anyway, this being a very long thread so far, we have already 'done' Abbott, the good Catholic boy, career plan Priest, and his illegitimate child at 19 before... not anything left to add now.

not sure about this statement.....actually even though I do not support Barnett or the LNP.....I seem to remember reading the other day that Barnett said opposite of this somewhere.....that he did not want hiked GST on fresh food and something else but would only consider discussing any GST hikes if the Feds negotiated ......seems like he is just another LNP that likes back-flipping
Food prices are all ready far too high.
Have to get the veggie patch going again I guess.

I do not understand why this Federal Govt refuses to cut out all overseas real estate buyers and also wipe out negative gearing so to make a difference to house price affordability?
.....maybe it is because of all those pesky pollies that have vested interests in real estate themselves?
Like Hockey has about 4-5 houses.
Where is Joe?

Throughout his life, Abbott has needed the Church and its teachings, sometimes to a desperate degree, because he realises that without it he would be morally and even psychologically lost. He knows he has personal demons to quell. Between his belfry-bat ears is a coil of such saturnine weirdness that no one, not even his closest friends, would want to unravel it. This makes him do things he comes to regret.
His wife, Margie, knows this. In 2005 when she heard that John Brogden had resigned as NSW Opposition leader, after being found in his office with self-inflicted wounds, she told her husband, โWhatever happens, donโt you say anything about it.โ The next day, Abbott, then health minister, joked about Brogdenโs actions in relation to a change to a Liberal policy: โIf we did that, we would be as dead as the former Liberal leaderโs political prospects.โ Abbottโs response to the subsequent outcry was, โLook, Iโve never claimed to be the worldโs most sensitive person.โ
And he is right. When dying asbestos campaigner Bernie Banton, suffering from terminal cancer, tried to deliver a petition to Abbottโs electorate office in Manly, Abbott, who wasnโt there, called Banton โgutlessโ, the event โa stuntโ and remarked that โjust because a person is sick doesnโt mean that he is necessarily pure at heart in all thingsโ.
