Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

WRONG (again)

The target is ALL unemployed and ALL disabled persons ( incl those with terminal brain cancer who are required to attend job network appts, even though they will be dead in the near future).

Ever read the Budgets proposals ( not passed in Senate ) for changed dole and DSP eligibility??If you have, you wouldn't be making the ill informed comnents you have made in this thread.

Yes, of course it will targeting all unemployed et al.

The rules apply to everyone and if you don't follow the rules - ie attend appointments or the rules bite.

What is wrong with that ?

If the rules haven't passed the Senate, how come they have been implemented in July last year ????

Debra

Melissa, yes, hard situation.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Aps - Why don't you ask the Illawarra council what they are doing ?
Have you ever asked them what they are doing ?

I am stating facts, which refute your argument. This isn't a personal discussion on me, me, me. I am using my region as an example of an area with high unemployment ( especially youth unemployment) and using that as an example of why the Govt's proposed changes to dole requrements are unfair on the large majority of jobseekers who genuinely want to work.

What is the Abbott Govt doing ? Create jobs as promised.. No. They are penslising those ( the majority) of genuine jobseekers on benefits instead.

Most people have a reason if they miss an appointment.

It could be late notice of appointment, job interview, casual work, training, study, sickness, mental health.   What is the time frame in question?  Does it refer to appointments or individuals?  As in are there repeat offenders (same clients missed multiple appointments) or millions of individuals not turning up?  How is response measured? For example if a person calls in to cancel appointment is that still counted as a missed appointment for the sake of rubbishing welfare clients?

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Attending every appt given won't prevent genuine jobseekers from the savage proposals in the Budget.

There was a poster here, whose family member had an epilectic fit at home( taken to hosp) around the time she was supposed to be attending a job network interview. She informed of the details why she couldn't attend after she got out of hospital. They cut off her payment because she failed to attend the interview. Took intervention to get her payment reinstated.

I think the point Julia was trying to make was that Boris specifically said in YELLOW on the photo

"NO MICROPHONE, NO SCRIPT, APPRATENTLY NO AUDIENCE"

Which she refuted by showing that wasn't the case.

i wonder just how many people who miss some appointments are like her and are included in that figure of those who miss appointments , but there will be rorters in the system too, however you can't label all those people who miss appointments ( and her reasons were valid,) as rorters
